  1. There is zero justification for the elevated expectation of US and Canada. US had a poor qualifying campaign and squad is average. Canada have a difficult group and a couple of good players. It must be North American arrogance.

  2. Football (soccer) in the US lacks understanding of the importance of defensive work, individually and collectively. In general, MLS teams DON'T DEFEND WELL, and that's their main difference from Europe. Soccer is not just scoring goals, it is avoiding them. An example, remember Ricky Puig's assist in his last game? In none of the major European leagues would Puig have been allowed to drop the ball and pass it without a mark. Watching that play, the defenseman literally stops and watches instead of defending.

  3. No, the US will never win a World Cup before establishing a South American/European model of Football Academy, where anyone with talent is able to join in, to be fed and become developed to play and then pave the way towards professional football, that's the right way to do it, you gotta build the right environment in order to make true talent flourish, you can't just wait until a good generation of gifted players become fit to play out of the blue and then expect they to go on to win a World Cup, you gotta make them! Great players are built and shaped by great football academies!

  4. I tried watching this video and listening to these opinions but you’re dreams will be crushed by better soccer teams, with better rosters and better coaches no matter how positive you are! Pulisic can’t finish a happy meal and is talking about winning the WC! Get real!!

  5. What are you fools talking about?! USMNT and USWNT are not that good- CONCACAF successes notwithstanding. Both will struggle in their respective World Cups! USWNT is in for a rude awakening.

  6. There's a difference between being optimistic and being just plain delusional, yes, the US (I Don't call it the usmnt, as is just dumb and redundant) have a talented core group of young players, but to suddenly paint them as world beaters is kind of arrogant and overconfident. Just remember that NO ONE in that group knows what is like to play in a WC, and England is a very good side, favorites by many to make it to the Semis. As for Canada, do you realize that they are facing powerhouse Belgium and 2018 runners up Croatia? Let's be realistic here and stop drinking that funny Kool aid.

  7. Honestly, no. I don’t think USA can win. Out of the 4 Concacaf teams, ironically, Canada and Costa Rica seem more likely. Mexico is just not doing well, and USA, while good, do horribly when playing outside of US.

That’s just how it is. Costa has a rythem going both outside and in their home nation. Not great, but they’ve been winning, and Canada, when serious, is a threat. Too bad they lack experience though.

  8. Since when a team who lost to Canada can win a World Cup? Just by asking this question shows how clueless American fans are about football. If the U.S get out of the group, they should be happy. Iran will give everything against the USA. I see Iran winning against USA or a draw in the worst scenario.

  9. American do not yet have enough football skills and experience to become world cup champion. But the time could be shortened if import Latinos and African more and more and gave them American citizenship. No way for local American.

  10. I mean I can see usa beating England with Southgate as a coach but I can’t see the usa getting past the round of 16 because I don’t think they can beat any team from group A

  11. Why is he talking over Charlie @26:00? Let the man express his opinion and get out of the way Matt. Don't be a homer because Iran has shown up in short spurts against bigger teams and a shock goal or dominating possession in a region and the climate they're used to is not outside of the realm of possibility. Wales is not a joke and not a pushover, look past them and we'll be fighting for 3rd. Let Charlie say his piece then you can rebut afterward.

  12. I genuinely like the MLS, your national team, and the fact that you are trying to build a football fan culture – that's the preface so you know I'm not a hater from Europe….no, you absolutely will not win the world cup – I don't even think you'll get out the group – I can't see you getting any points, BUT, if you do get out the group then it's a lottery and anything is possible.

  13. I guess theoretically any team can win it. Doesn't mean they will. The US team has some talent for sure but they aren't the level of winning the World Cup. You should just focus on one match at a time.
