as an American fan, this broadcasting team is almost as asinine as the CBS champion’s league team. Costa Rica has been a CONCACAF constant forever. They have been the most successful concacaf team in world cups in recent memory making it to the quarters in 2014, the US has not made quarters since 2002 and only got a third place finish in 1930. Its kind or amazing watching Dempsey and Lalas scoff at playing defensive as if the US hasnt been a historically park the bus team. Costa Rica has been the only CONCACAF team to get good results against rated teams in actual tournaments. As far as the calls it really just depends who you are rooting for, i think the vini pen is shoulder to shoulder, the VAR is whatever you make of it, and the handball is pressed against the defender’s body. The real take is that Brazil only managed 3 shots on target despite boasting an elite front three and a core that play for the best teams in Europe. Costa Rica did what they needed to get a result and Brazil failed to finish the few chances they had. Why do they have to act like Costa Rica is some poverty team. They have a culture of playing for the badge. Vargas did not lose a single ball all game. They should talk about how ridiculous it is that a south american tournament is being played in a country where they are forced to play in football stadiums that do not even meet FIFA regulations with sod plopped on astro turf for $200 a ticket. Brazil will be fine, Costa Rica will continue to defend the rest of the tournament, give them props for doing what the US, mexico, and canada have all failed to do which is get a result against elite talent.
