Basically, they might’ve learned from their own mistakes with Enzo Maresca, and are now willing to give Xabi that kind of power. If you noticed, Chelsea introduced Xabi as their new “Manager.” That’s different from Enzo Maresca or Liam Rosenior, who were introduced as “Head Coach.”
So what’s the difference? In short… A Head Coach usually focuses on tactics and training on the pitch. Transfers are usually handled by the sporting director or the recruitment team. But with the Manager role, Xabi would have much more influence over transfers and the club’s long-term project.
