The USMNT has been disappointing for years now. And the worst part is, it's not like we don't have talent. We have talented players, Dempsey, Pulisic, and Howard, and probably a few more that I can't think off the top of my head found success in lager and more competitive leagues outside of MLS, and that does say something, however we need more than just ONE potential world class player who's not even old enough to smoke cigarettes. Honestly, I think the problem is that for years the USMNT just had to coast though quals with the biggest matches against Mexico and Costa Rica, and we'd win the CONCACAF or finish second because it was a weak Confederation, this isn't the CONCABOL not every team here has the potential to go deep into the tournament. So for years the USMNT just assumed they'd make it, just assumed that they'd qualify because we have the biggest population, biggest economy, a growing passion for the sport and a very competitive league. But's that's the problem, the MLS. If you look at the numbers for foreign players in the MLS, it's 49%. That means that all those MLS scouts are doing their jobs and bringing talented guys to the league that probably never would of gotten a shot, which is great, absolutely fantastic that these guys come in and score goals and find success in America, that is literally the American dream. But this reliance on foreign players has also made the USMNT's job harder. We've developed the talent of the CONCACAF with our state of the art training facilities, and helped develop youngsters to not only be good players, but to work had and work together. The MLS has done a lot for soccer, not only in the USA but for all of CONCACAF and the Confederation has gotten tougher whilst the USMNT just keeps not playing well with all their talent. We have the talent, but not the will or desire. We don't have a nation behind us, we don't have the determination to prove people wrong. We are supposed to win the next two games, we were supposed to have been in the top three by now. But here we are, playing a world cup qualifier sitting in forth in the hex tied 9 points with our next opponents who are hungry for their first ever WC if they qualify, and they have a nation behind them. They are playing for the glory of Panama, what is the USMNT playing for? A spot they should already have? Slightly increased ratings on ESPN in June? A second round exit? The USMNT has to prove that they want to go to Russia in June, but at least the USWNT is the best Women's Team in the world
