New UCL format shows that there's no small teams in this tournament! Real, Man City and Psg was has experienced this… Barca and Liverpool will be a UCL final and it will be anyone game!
These two guys are clowns. They play "what if" rhetoric. High line is more exposed captain obvious, Flick knows this well and still play it because they can execute it very well and in front Barca have so much firepower and their midfield is so good that it compensate the risk. There is no tactic that will guarantee you win for 100%. Barca high line works 9/10 it's March and it is proven even against big dogs. Waiting for that one game to tell everyone I got right is lame and makes you a terrible pundit because your concerns are proven in 10% of cases while in 90% it did not materialized. That ratio is disastrous for pundit. It is obvoius that high line bring risk, you can remind that, but don't build your case on it and don't say that if they were playing against better team this would not work, because this sounds very silly, especially when this tactic is tested and proven even against better teams than Benfica. Atletico got lucky because of the slip of Barcelona player, it was not due to error in tactic execution. Without that slip there would be no goal. Pure bad luck, it happens.

Benfica fan here… Barca was really lucky that we (Benfica) have lackluster quality and most of all… a lack of INTELIGENT players on the squad that inevitably take the worst decisions when faced with goal chances. Barca will in no way in this UCL playing like they are. A better oposition then Benfica will probably kick them out of UCL if they continue defending like they are. It won't work always.

Firstly, against Benfica we had a deeper back line pretty much the whole game after Cubarsis red so that observation is utterly invalid here.
Secondly, the idea that it wouldnt work against big teams – we have literally rolled over every elite team we've played this year with the same high line. Clearly, the offensive avenues that are opened for us playing this way outweigh the defensive risk. Not acknowledging that so deep into the season at this point just shows you're a hack analyst.
