Ballon d’Or: 2024 Nominees revealed with Messi and Ronaldo NOT included | Morning Footy | CBS Sports

The Morning Footy crew react to the 2024 Ballon d’Or list of nominees, from the surprises to the snubs. The group debate who’s missing and who shouldn’t be on said list. There appears to be no clear cut favorite to win this year and it also marks the first time both Messi and Ronaldo have not been in the running since 2003. So this mean we’ll have a guaranteed first time winner for the men. On the women’s side, the discussion surrounding the nominees has all been about someone not on said list, arguably the world’s best defender, Naomi Girma. A stark omission and oversight for sure.

  1. Look man had 17 goals and 11 assist playing for Atalanta last season , played in Copa Italia final , played in Africa nations cup finals scoring 4 goals in the tournament, won europa league whilst scoring 5 goals in the tournament with hattrick in the finals

  2. For the first time in over two decades, the Ballon d’Or shortlist does not include Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi, fresh from another Copa America victory with Argentina, was expected by many to be included, but the 37-year-old’s omission marks a symbolic shift in the footballing landscape.

It is highly recommended and a MUST for Real Madrid management, board of directors, coaching staff, people working in their club who are involved on the transfer-market to permanently sell who are currently out on loan to play for another football club, do not offer a loan with buy back clause or with a number or percentage rights, recall or return players that are currently on-loan by another football club to play for Real Madrid, ageing ((28) years old and above), inconsistent (due to limited playing time, never have played and always on the bench, poor defensively, not performing well) regardless of age, injury prone, those who are not comfortable playing in different position, that MUST happen on or before July 2029. We are referring to Modric, Vasquez, Daniel Carvajal Ramos "Dani Carvajal", Courtois, Alaba, Rudiger, Mendy, Daniel Ceballos Fernández "Dani Ceballos", Jesús Vallejo Lázaro "Jesus Vallejo", Francisco José García Torres "Fran Garcia", Diaz, Juan Miguel Latasa Fernández "Juanmi Latasa", Reinier Jesus Carvalho "Reinier", & Guler.

Confirmed leaving Real Madrid as some will no longer renew, return to their respective football club that are being loaned out to Real Madrid and a few getting sold permanently with or without a buy back clause on or before September 2024: Rafael Marín Zamora "Rafa Marin", Kroos, José Ignacio Fernández Iglesias "Nacho", José Luis Mato Sanmartín "Joselu", Arrizabalaga & Nicolás "Nico" Paz Martínez.

Once they get sold these are the players should be sign based on their positions on or before July 2027.

Right Back: Jesus Fortea, Josh Acheampong

Left Back: Alphonso Davies, Joskol Gvardiol

    Centre Back: William Saliba

Centre Defensive Midfielder: Rodrigo "Rodri" Cascante

Centre or Attacking Midfield: Florian Wirtz, Franco Mastantuono

Lastly Real Madrid must never offer a contract to these players for a RIGHT BACK position, that are inconsistent regardless of age, poor defensively, has disadvantage of height and strength (lacks muscles), proven already that unable to stop wingers/strikers in different leagues, injury-prone, has beyond 60 million euro's transfer-market value, and ageing 27 years old and above, and turning 27 years old and above on year 2027. We are referring to Darmian, Walker, Trippier, Di Lorenzo, Cancelo, Kimmich, Dumfries, Calabria, White, Mazraoui, Ryerson, Wan-Bissaka, Molina, Alexander-Arnold, Hakimi, Tomiyasu, Royal, Dalot, Porro, James, Boey, Frimpong, Couto, Livramento, Rensch, Terracciano, Gusto, Bradley, Sanchez, Lewis, Fresneda, Gray, & Lima.

  3. imo i think lautaro should win

Series A top goal scorer, Copa America top goal scorer, won the league, won the copa america, won the Italian supercup (which is irrelevant), 32 goals across all comps Inter participated in, 7 assists and poty for inter. just me though, i can understand if any other player wins, its just my opinion

  4. Messi is still better than half of those 30. Let’s be real. He is certainly not the genius monster, unbelievably outstanding. But he was So good, that all of these nominees will never be close to him in their whole career. Still, he is a great player now, just not an alien anymore. So he should absolutely be in that list of the 30 great. Some of the players that were nominated are not even close to what Messi is today. Of course he was not going to win it, but he should have been nominated. The problem here are the French people (entities that nominate). They have such an enormous resentment against Messi and Argentina, that they decided to keep him out of the list. It doesn’t matter he went to the MLS if he won Copa America. He won one of the most important International Competitions. It is so obvious, that France should be punished. They did the same in the Olympics. They behaved like cr@p. They even put on purpose another flag to an Argentine winner. 😂 No matter what, France is not what it used to be anymore, and @frican athletes do not represent them at all. They are a real joke, and the whole world knows it. 🤡

  5. Guys for real!….. if Vinicius is not getting picked then it's definitely gonna be Dani carvajal NOT rodri.. Because based on club and country performance Carvajal did the best. He scored the leading goal in the Ucl final, He won the ucl, league, spanish cup and then the Euros man… chill IF it is not VINI then it is Carvajal simple.. any other thing aside that is ROBBERY Again!

  6. The fact that Rice, Saka, and Saliba are on this list and not a SINGLE Liverpool player or Dutch player (Gakpo, Van Dijk). Just goes to show how biased and in the pocket the media is and how much favor the mass amounts of drone fans for Arsenal and England players brings…

  7. The racism Lookman had an incredible AFCON made the final and was star of the Europa League final, but the South American doesn’t think the AFCON is as important as Copa, with very weak teams.

  8. what is the argument about lookman.. what is this guy saying.. are you saying even if he doesn't win it.. does that mean he can't be considered.. the guy had a fantastic season.. but he shouldn't be written off the way this guy is writing him off.. does he even know what it means to score hat-trick in a match even though that's not the yardstick…. but don't sound silly bruuuhhh

  9. How do you become a legend? Its through consistency and over time. Both Ronaldo and Messi was youngster one time too. The young players today are much better overall than youngsters 10-20-30 years ago.

  10. The one guy that won everything (Carvajal) isn't in the picture, but three guys that only won some of the trophies are front and center.

P.S. It should be Carvajal…he had two feet in all the trophies he won and also scored in the CL final.
