Türkiye was awful on the final 3rd. Little desire to take defenders on and force them out of shape to create numerical advantages and quality combination play in dangerous areas.
That’s textbook attacking play vs low block teams that is taught at the youth level before the age of 12.
Instead it was very slow and predictable play and settled for ambitious shots from distance or floating soft hopeful crosses into a very crowded box with Australia being significantly stronger, bigger, and physically imposing.
Well done by the Aussies to punish them and come away with a deserved 3pts.
Such a shame. Turkish players were so eager to shoot from outside the box that they missed so many good passes.

This victory by the Aussies wasn't as dominant as they would like you to think. On another day, the ball bounces more kindly for Turkey and some of those deflections from the post or the keeper go right to a player to finish. Or some of Turkey's shots hit a deflection or are just a few inches over and go in for a goal. Turkey had a pretty darn good attack and this game could have easily ended differently. Having said that, the Aussies played a great low block. They made it really hard for Turkey to get good chances and they capitalized on two of their handful of chances.
