Van/Sea – 47th minute
Laborda tactical foul, second yellow not given.
5:42
Obviously a clear strike with a "wind up"
they said on the broadcast that Katranis ruptured his ear drum sooo yeah shouldve been a red card
but its LA vs Salt Lake so itll never happen
Was that Tim Donaghy in the middle in the LAFC game?
I wish someone could use this video today to prove the toughness of doing a game as a grassroot referee.
Yes, sometimes we are called for very high level youth game or reserve team games of professional teams. So those things you saw today in the video is very likely to happen to us as well.
But we do not have VAR. We do not have 4th official. And we do not even have telecom.
Please tell USSF that we, at grassroot level, need more support when doing high level games.
Re: The Union match. Yes, the red was clear, but I wish you had addressed why BARIBO got a yellow on the play. What the heck did he do?
If you raise your arm to the level of opposition head before a collision it is deliberate contact to the head. You can raise your arm to shoulder level to prepare for the collision. Red card every time in my book.
Does Arango go down softly? The answer always is Yes.
How do you not look at the VAR review for the potential penalty against Miami in the Miami vs DC United game? It was on the line and therefore in the box and therefore a penalty. VAR called for review but the Ref stayed with his call on the field of no penalty and just outside the box.
Are we just going to ignore that Danny Leyva got slid into from behind and it was deemed a no call?
Looks like the RSL player was trying to run into the LAFC player, and the LAFC player was trying to get his arm out in front of the other player.
Why did you argue that it was clear and obvious error a few weeks ago at STL vs VAN for less contact. Seems to change opinions on what clear and obvious means week to week.
This is a contact sport. I understand that at high speeds a slight contact can trip a player up, but that "poke" on Arango is incidental contact and in no universe should be called for a foul. The Laws of the Game also list a "push" as a foul, but players are pushing all the time (e.g. corner kicks). Referees use their discretion on what contact is considered negligible.
Hmmm, a controversial call in a Sounders match and Daniel Radford doesn't overturn it in favor of Sounders. Yeah that tracks.
What if we take into account that Arango was flopping the whole game and the ref said nothing about it?
Honestly what is the point of VAR if they can see someone deliberately elbow someone off the ball so hard that they burst their eardrum, and not do anything about it?
That is unacceptable refereeing and puts players at risk.
I couldn't believe it when that LA FC player didn't get sent off.
Is the Austin GWG offside? I think so, but as a Seattle fan I don’t want these sorts of goals called back, I want Seattle to not cough up late goals after controlling the match. Overuse of VAR is ruining the game.
That's the most hilariously obvious red I've seen all season
Also, how on earth can that be the only available camera on the Pompeu/Arango foul, this could easily become a conclusive call either way with a second angle
Wiebe today: outright suggests that Arango was not contacted at all
Wiebe four weeks ago: LABORDA DIDN'T FALL DOWN FOR NO REASON
Not all contact is a foul, Wiebe. And that Arango PK has to be a caution for diving or why bother. Even if there was contact on that challenge, it would have been to the bottom of Arango’s boot. No way that’s a foul, and no way that ridiculous dive is anything other than simulation.
The reason that Elbow wasn't a red live (I would have ccalled it that if i'd seen it) was becakuse all refs weren't able to see it except the nearside AR who is not looking as he's watching the offide line. If he was looking at that live and directly its a sending off. On review it's harder to determine as the threshold to overturn a call is much higher.
