my favourite left back probably, and one of the best i have ever seen in my lifetime, him and lahm,(roberto carlos of course too but he was a generation older) he is prob one of the truly best english players, among with Gerrard and scholes.

Excellent player. Got plenty of undeserved stick, but as Souness said he was the best left back in World football for a period. Not many can claim that. Also had Ronaldo in his pocket consistently.
