History was made in Hampden Park as Donegal’s Amber Barrett fired Ireland to their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup finals. A superb first half penalty save from Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan kept the match scoreless before second half sub Barrett sent The Girls in Green on their way to a historic victory.

    Bizzare… 2 play offs for Scotland? Fifa needs to wake up with it's inconsistencies in women's football. I feel for teams like Portugal who had to do an extra qualifer even after winning 2 play offs…what's that all about? Almost as bad as the qualifying for the cricket world cup…that's almost impossible to qualify outside the top 10 in the world, it's a closed sport cricket.

    I've never had much interest in Irish women's soccer but Amber Barrett's goal is so good that I'm gonna watch the girls in Australia now. Her first touch is world class here after a very well weighted pass. I've not enjoyed soccer for 20 years with the money and the saturation of coverage and lack of characters in the game but maybe the women are where it's at because they're low-key in relation to the men, it can be about the game.

    Amber Barrett's goal after an accurate pass by Denise O'Sullivan reminded me of Ella Toone's goal in the Euro2022 final following a similar pass from Keira Walsh. In both cases the striker was alone, pursued by opponents and only the goalie facing her, but out of the box, and again, the ball was stroked in. Courtney Brosnan, like Mary Earps, saved the family silver and deserve much praise. Wonderful achievement by the girls in green!

    A lot has been made of the victorious Irish team singing a Wolfe Tones ballad.I don't believe for a minute they meant this as support for the Provo IRA campaign.They just love their country and wanted the whole world to know it.
    Nationalism has become a dirty word of late because the International Cabal wants to turn us all into unthinking all consuming zombies.This does not go down well in countries like Ireland ,Hungary Poland ,Italy ,France etc where people are now rebelling against this pagan internationalism.
    So I say to the Irish women's team : You've apologized .Leave at that .STOP FEELING GUILTY ,this is how they want you to feel.Sing all your songs ,Rebel songs too,sing them on the plane to Australia and me and millions more all over the world from Shannon to Sydney to Shanghai will be singing with you and cheering you on.
