A historic win, marvellous goals, an intense Derby — this weekend had it all!

Matchday 19 of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season was a real spectacle: Bayern Munich
suffered their first defeat of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season against Augsburg, Borussia
Dortmund downed Union Berlin and Hoffenheim continued their impressive form at
Eintracht Frankfurt. Also, Leipzig celebrated a comfortable victory over Heidenheim,
Stuttgart cruised past Mönchengladbach and Lucas Vázquez scored his first
Leverkusen goal as the Werkself registered their maiden win of 2026 against Bremen.
The spoils were shared in the Hamburg derby as St. Pauli and HSV could not be
separated at the Millerntor, and Freiburg came from behind with Igor Matanović netting
the winner against Köln.

I have a theory with Frankfurt: their entire MO seems to be to buy young players to sell for big profits, Ektike and to an extent Marmoush being the most recent examples but there are others too. But because attacking players often come with the biggest price tags, they focus on getting the best out of those players and making them look like they’re worth €60-80million, to the detriment of their defence, which is not good enough to play as attacking as they do. Hence why they score a load, but also concede a load too.
