Hugh Freeze has been the play caller for Auburn his whole tenure. Derrick Nix helped install the game plan freeze wanted, he ran offensive meetings (HC don't always attend, especially Freeze lol) he handled substitutions, he handled running offensive practices and player development and was the RB coach and Auburn has had some d*mn good running the last 2 years. And on top of all of that when freeze was fired, Nix took full control of the offense and the offense immediately got better in a quite literally a week. Auburn put up 3 points against Kentucky and freeze was fired and the very next week with Nix in control they put up 38 points at Vandy.
This is an awesome hire and man if he can bring someone like Cam Coleman or Malcolm Simmons, that’d be awesome
He didnt call the plays. Hugh Freeze did. They also didnt hire him to call plays. They hired him to coach up the WRs. Hes a good recruiter. Possible Bonus is it could entice Colman to come on over.
