Under IFAB Law 12, if an attacking player commits a foul during the attacking phase of play that directly results in a goal, the referee must disallow the goal. If the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) identifies this attacking foul during the buildup, the goal will be called back.

Why are they pundits? They can go read the referee association rules and see that this is the norm. You review the whole play. The foul was directly involved because it led to the goal. Without that foul there is no goal. These calls have been made many times before, sometimes going back a lot more (I agree that there has to be a limit, but here it is the play leading to the goal). These pundits just want the goal to stand because it was "pretty". That's not how the rules work.

You don’t know the rules of football…..so before giving an uninformed, emotional opinion, open the rule book and you will see that it was called correctly. The same way , when a person is offside, the plays continue, and even if a goal happens , it’s disallowed. This goal was the culmination of a foul play, just because it wasn’t stop at the beginning , it was rightly called at the end of the goal sequence.
In the beginning of game, Argentina fouled the Egyptians many times and the reff did not call it if those would’ve led to goals would he have went back to the VAR ??? this is all garbage.
