ONSIDE | Why is diversity important in Football?

The Onside project started in 2019 with a strong collaboration between Galway2020 as European Capital of Culture and the FAI supported by UEFA’s Football and Social Responsibility Unit/Division – the project developed a programme of actions to engage local clubs, schools and NGO’s working with refugees, with the goal of using football to promote diversity and inclusion, and to challenge discrimination. In 2021 the Onside project marked International Day Against Racism launching the Onside Schools Engagement Programme in association with the FAI. The Onside programme includes a number of specially designed classroom and schoolyard modules that educate young people about racism and facilitate language learning and cultural exchange through football. #TogetherAgainstRacism
