There is a reason two players can check their shoulders the same number of times and still play at completely different speeds.
The separation happens after the eyes do their job. Sports vision training works on what the brain does with the picture: how fast you process it, how much of it you remember, and how quickly you recognize a pattern you have seen before.
Add contrast sensitivity, the ability to separate the ball, a teammate, or a passing lane from a busy background, and you get why some athletes seem to play with extra time.
The good news is that none of this is fixed. Visual processing, visual memory, and contrast sensitivity all respond to training, the same way strength and speed do.
