Hi Rory, I love these tactical breakdowns as an adult. But how do teach this in a training session with 8 and 9 year olds. I find when I get into more tactical discussions with them they tend to lose focus and not adsorb it. Any tips there? Thanks in advance!
How often do you practice? I feel like I would need 2-3 60 minute practices a week for the whole season before
a U10 team to gage this…
thanks man
shudder Balls into the middle in the defensive third makes me nervous. I see the concept, but all it takes is 2 goals due to inaccurate passes to make that stop…
Great videos. When first coaching patterns of play to u9s would you walk it through
Thanks Rory. I coach 8v8 so 7 and a goalie. Would you then run a 3-2-2 or a 1-3-3
Such good videos
Hi Rory. Love watching your videos. Very interesting to watch as a newer coach.
Hey coach Rory, this question has nothing to do with the video but how often do you think kids 12 and up should focus on hitting the gym for a leg and body workout? once a week or two days and for about 1 hour? Thank you!
Coach, in what positions of a 2-3-1 formation would you place your less skilled and less aggressive players in a rec league? Assuming that one or two of them are on the field at any given time.
Could you do a break down on a older group like u14?
coach, quick question, in the 2-3-1, how far back do you have your midfielders defend? Always seems to me that my defenders come back to defend, but lack any forward options if the backs win the ball. Often I find this is because the forward is close to the midfield circle, but my mids have all squished nearly on top of my backs – especially the further back the ball has gone. How do you get them to balance their offensive and defensive responsibilities?
I’ve favorited your 2-3-1 vids. Do you have your USSF license by any chance? If not I strongly advise you do. You are incredibly intelligent coach.
Thank you for the information.
i only just found out about your channel but i really enjoy your content
Why is the first option to pass it to the side? I believe the first attempt should be to pass to the front
Great! What software do you use??
Thank you so much, really appreciate this!
Have just found.your channel. Great content. Have you sample training plan examples.thatyou would.use to coach the theme of the.session
I used to like playing a 2-1-3 it made it easier for me to transition into a 4-1-3 at 9v9 and then 4-3-3 at 11v11
I am new to coaching youth soccer but played for years. Now having kids I am becoming a coach and want to learn all aspects and the best way to coach them so they can grow each year. I always see coaches working on footwork and techniques but never do I see them working on this formation. So after my many years of playing I am now learning so much for your videos. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. You are amazing. I have a question, I am coaching in a rec league and they play 8v8 for U10 girls so I was wondering how would you format the field for them to transition next year to a 9v9? Do you just put 2 strikers in for a 2-3-2 position format? Any help would be great. Thanks again for your videos. LOVE THEM!!!!!!
@ 7:50, if 6 loses possession or makes a bad pass (can see this happening w/my girls team) and the red 3 move back toward our goal, this creates a numerical disadvantage. Would you ask your FB's (2 & 3) to drop back quickly to support? Just found your channel and really enjoying your content. Thank you!
Hi!! LOVEEEEE your videos! My girls are playing indoor soccer during spring for fun.. I wanted to ask what formation would best support the 2-3-1 for outdoor. We’ve been playing one sweeper 3 midfields and one forward (indoor is 6v6) since our sweeper is very fast and strong, however as we play more competitive teams I’ve been putting 2 back 2 mid and 1 forward. I’m also thinking of doing a 2 back and 3 midfield with center being either forward or defense depending on the other team. Thank you!
Thanks for all these awesome videos! May I request a video about how you prepare your players right before a game (warm-up, game plan, hype talk, etc)?
Here we go!
