7v7 Soccer: 2-1-2-1 Formation – Features & Challenges

In the UK it is principally U9s & U10s who play 7v7. At www.edgeofplay.com we have over 50 formation videos for 5v5, 7v7, 9v9 & 11v11. In this video Jack looks at the features and challenges you may find with the 2-1-2-1 7-a-side formation.

PLEASE NOTE: The video content is owned by Edge of Play Coaching Ltd. We paid for the license to use the background music from Audio Jungle & used the excellent Soccer Tutor Tactics Manager programme for the tactical animations.

  1. If you play this formation it is critical that your holding midfielder be fast and have a lot of courage, otherwise there is a high probability you will lose the midfield and there also can be confusion at the back…I have found that because kids like to get forward, I play a 1-2-2-1 so kids feel more comfortable getting forward but understand they need to get back. Also with one clear last back, there is less risk of confusion and I also have a designated person to communicate from the back.

  2. What are some ways to increase your soccer technique? I read loads of good opinions on the internet about how exactly Episoketren System can assist you increase your soccer technique. Has any one tested out this popular training program?
