  1. He played every single one of those 737 games like a cup final. He never took anything for granted and he gave it his all. Jamie Carragher! Legend!! 🙌🏾

  2. Been a Liverpool fan all my life. I'd be reaching to say Jamie was ever world class but without a doubt week after week he put sweat, blood, tears and heart on that pitch. During our dark times, that was what we wanted to see.

    Much love Jamie ❤. YNWA

  3. Good tough player who was underrated IQ wise but I tell ya what he's even more underrated as a pundit in terms of his football knowledge he genuinely is one of the best out there at breaking down a game and analysing it

  4. I am a Barcelona fan, Bilbao is that one club I always admire (maybe Villareal too) for the same reason. They mean so much for their town/city. The fans are that bit extra. Cool jersey too haha

  5. To be a one club man at a club like Liverpool is incredibly difficult. And he was a starter. Yes it wasn't the greatest period in Liverpools history but it was still a massive club with a lot of pressure surrounding it. It's hard to say when next Liverpool will have one of those.

  6. Jamie can be self deprecating and humble about his career. Hell often just laugh along with whatever is being said about him if its negative and downplay if its positive. But he was always at the heart of that defense for over a decade and always put everything on the line. A top defender in my opinion.

  7. It’s almost impossible today because of two main reasons:

    1. You now have strong football leagues with big budgets (like MLS or Saudi Arabia) where players can go after their peak.

    2. Being over 30 is no longer considered “old” or a reason to retire early.

The only scenario left is when a player is good enough for his club, but not quite at the very top (international) level.

That’s why I really love how Athletic is trying to bring back — and keep alive — this mentality with their “One Club Man” trophies, promoting loyalty and identity in football.

  8. I love these types of Thomas Müller, Totti, Maldini style players who are the heart and souls of their teams. This price means more than the Ballon Dor these days …
