  1. As a Manchester United fan for some reason I've always had a soft spot for wright. I great player and a likeable character. Love his no nonsense passion for the game and his extrovert love of England in tournament's. Only likeable Arsenal player thinking about it lol. He definitely should have played more for the country.

  2. The thing with wrighty is that its rare when guys are just that prodigious ya know? like they just score that many goals on a consistent basis. thats what i love about Ian Wright.

  3. Wright is a f legend. Striker unbelievable. He gave his English people unreal goals. They r useless people that maybe went against him for not scoring enough for England. To me watching ian was the best ๐Ÿ‘Œ listen to the commentators comments. Master finisher

  4. Wright was class. Doesnt get the credit he deserves IMO. If he was Brazilian people would still be raving about him when pickin their best strikers ever. I remember when he was playin I thought he was underrated even back then(Im not an Arsenal fan btw). The way he wasnt picked a lot for England etc. HE was never given a proper consistent chance in the team. England had great strikers at the time but none of them could do the stuff Wright could do. A lot of his goals are special. What a player.

  5. What a legend. Wish we could have seen him play more for England. Wish he could have won the FA cup with Palace in 1990, then we might never have had that pesky Ferguson dynasty at United.

  6. What a travesty that he did not play more for England. An utter tragedy. His passion for football, for scoring goals and for the England shirt would surely have translated into success for England.

  7. I hate Arsenal with a passion but I grew up watching Ian Wright and had the utmost respect for the way he played. Not a smart bloke academically but his footballing brain was leagues ahead of most he played against. I feel privileged to have seen him play, it's a crime that he never really played for England. Wonderful player to watch, so incisive in front of goal

  8. Such memories!
To the end of his playing days, he played like the kid we wanted to be at school.
Relentless. Full of energy. Pure panache. But mostly a sort of shocked, surprised joy that he was who he was or that he'd done what he'd done.
He sometimes seemed surprised that a tricky shot had gone in.
As a deeply partisan follower of football, I did not rate him until he crossed the river.
And I didn't particularly think at the time that he was a good buy. I though Arsenal already had who they needed.
I changed my tune quite quickly thereafter and denied ever having doubted his quality ….. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  9. How there's not a proper statue of this man outside the arse stadium i do not know? He was your record goal scorer & he get some silly little cartoonish bust? Shameful. Absolute legend of a player.
