West Ham deserved the loss. It's about time people start to respect American soccer. 10 years later, you'd think that mindset would've changed but people still have the same opinion.
Notice Blanco's performance as opposed to Beckham. Blanco created more opportunities and scored a great goal. He was a better purchase for Chicago Fire than Beckham was for the Galaxy.
An interesting point is that the Australians and the New Zealanders call this sport either or both soccer and football maybe because of the Australian Football League (AFL) being immensely popular in Australia and also popular in New Zealand and also because of the rugby football being quite popular in both Australia and New Zealand.
The English did invent the term soccer, however I am not sure if Americans and Canadians used the term soccer because of what decimalsummer explained or for another reason. The explanation decimalsummer though is very possible. It seems very likely that the Americans use the term soccer because of the National Football League (NFL), just like the term soccer for the Canadians most likely happened because of the the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Please explain to me how someones vernacular shows their knowledge about the sport. It's the same thing whether you call it football, soccer, or supercalifragilisticexpialadocious. Just because Americans call it soccer doesn't mean they don't know anything about the sport. It was just more convenient than having two sports called football
Because it was named a long time ago during the Revolutionary War by Americans to be opposite of the English, since they were enemies. Kind of a dumb idea i know, but it stuck.
@PhantomPanda1992 considering how soccer is largely a team sport, the team is much more important than the individuals. Since All Stars do not practice together nearly as often as an actual Premiere team, the Premiere team actually has a huge advantage. To put it in another way, a normal MLS team would have an advantage over the MLS all stars. Team chemistry and tactics is absolutely crucial.
@TheOscar401 Yeah i was more going towards Liverpool … i hate chelsea because im a huge liverpool fan….. and you cant even talk to me about football…. you call it soccer.
@ultmatDUD lool soccer is a stuipd name then! Football mainly kick the ball with your foot! and anyway, west ham not even in top league in england, you will get owned against manchester united, man city and chelsea fc

I was there. 14 years old. Such a good game.

You do know that this MLS All-Star Game was hosted in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, not in USA.
I wish Blanco would have stayed in Chicago. It made the MLS way more interesting.
Damn blanco! And I'm a yank

yeah but the players playing on the mls all star team have no chemistry. Honestly a lone mls team would have a better chance than the all star team

Cuauhtemoc Blanco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MLS allstars have another win over a foreign opponent… how can they even be proud of that, its the best players of MLS vs WEST HAM…………………………
@WhatNameShalIHave your so stupid
the reason i dont watch mls is coz the commentators voice would piss me off
@TDL4D Our sport is called "Football" because it was adapted from Rugby Football in 1901. Once again, It all goes back to the English.
@Headcheezonium because their not retarded and call a sport which has more running with the ball in their hands…. football?
@TDL4D South Africa and most of asia call it Soccer as well. I don't see anyone yelling at them.
