  1. The strikers in those era is different. Now the only good striker in the prem is probably only haaland. But u only play him twice a season anyway.

Last time CBs have to deal with the likes of henry, rooney, CR7, Tevez, Drogba, Torres week in week out.

  2. I was so pissed when Liverpool signed VVD, he's a class act. Listening to him now Liverpool were not lucky Liverpool chose based on his character. That's what made him better

  3. Rio's era…prime Messi, Eto, Ronaldinho, Zidane, R9, CR7, Owen, Henry, Shevchenko, Kaka, Ibrahmiovic, Rooney, Shearer, Bergkamp, RVN, RVP, Drogba, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Nedved and many other top top attackers. They were real ballers! VVD is a great defender but he had it easy in this era.

  4. VVD like other CB of this gen spend their time going backwards with their arms behind their backs… waiting for the cavalry to arrive. And there are no killers up top anymore. You're not going backwards with R9 coming at you, you had to defend on the front foot to even stand a chance.

  5. Rio is more likely to get bullied in this generation, than Van Dijk is to get bullied in Rio's generation.
Football has evolved, sorry to all the salty Man United fans, whose club has been left behind.
Brexit football used to get you midtable prem in the 00s, now it doesn't even cut it in the Championship.

  6. The level of stupidity in this comment section is incredible. Virg would have been absolutely fine 20 years ago. Height, power, strength, speed, tactical awareness, calm on the ball. You melts need to take the man u tinted glasses off.

  7. Duncan Ferguson would have bullied him. Shearer would have terrorised him. Goal King Cole & Wrighty would have ate him alive, let alone Henry, Ruud and the rest. Different level players.

  8. We now life in a time where on every football social media page players have to be compared to each other. Rio Ferdinand is the greatest example of it; always asking ‘this or that’, ‘who is better this guy or that guy. What’s the point? I get really frustrated when Rio has the possibility to interview Cristiano Ronaldo and then asks Cristiano to compare players who have a totally different position on the pitch. It’s just asking empty question’s for young kids who hadn’t had the chance to see them play live, so that they can have a stupid debate about it. Let’s just enjoy them instead of always ranking players based on nothing.

  9. In that era? Ronaldo played both… It wasnt long ago and yes Van Djik would be great but not as much because of the less tactical awareness of both teams
