HIGHLIGHTS | Scotland WNT 0-1 Ireland WNT | 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off

The Girls in Green wrote themselves into Irish footballing folklore, as they became the first Ireland Women’s National Team to qualify for a major tournament. Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan made a crucial penalty save after 14 minutes to keep the game scoreless before Donegal native Amber Barrett, introduced as a second half substitute, raced clear to give Ireland the lead & secure a place at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

  1. That first touch by Barrett makes all the difference. Magnificent. As an Arsenal fan, I'd like to see Australia (Catley, Foord) and Ireland (McCabe) through from their group, but I think Canada will prove too strong for the Irish. Hope I'm wrong, though!

  2. I wonder if critics would prefer the girls chant during a government sanctioned march through neighborhoods they dont live in year, after year, after year, after year …

  3. Learn to control your players after the game please. The behaviour shown in the celebrations was disgusting, and should not be accepted. Proper education needed on the history. Consequences should come, however I doubt it. The world cup is not a place for such discrimination and hate to be spread. Thank you!
