USA and Algeria meet in a crucial group C match on Wednesday. A win will see USA through to the round of 16. Algeria could also qualify with a win, over USA, provided England win against Slovenia, and goal differences work out in Algeria’s favor.

Late in the first round, with about two thirds of the matches done and dusted, Group C is still wide open. England and Slovenia meet on Wednesday in Port Elizabeth, in a match that could turn the group rankings on their head.
