5:10 – Andrew, you looked at this wrong. That should be the easiest part of being a VAR. You can't tell. It doesn't matter what feeling you have. You can't tell and have no video evidence. At this point, your job is done. It's not your job to guess in the slightest.
Busquets hit the ball and then columbus player kicked him before Busquets gets in his leg… So the yelow card should get Columbus player, first learn about the rules…
Great job completely avoiding the second studs up, two footed tackle by Sergio on Cucho 🤣
They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. Inter MyMoney
Genuine question here after reading the comments. I'm a columbus crew fan, and I will absolutely admit that I'm biased in the inconsistency of the Busquets and Camacho calls. I just want a good competivie league to enjoy the game i love playing and watching. But my question here is, for those who are on the side of "the refs got it wrong/miami favoritism", are you all CC fans too, or are you less biased on the call (not being from the CC fan base). Genuinely looking for honest opinions here.
MLS Instant Replay: We will talk about when refs make mistakes and try to showcase missed calls. Unless those calls negatively impact Columbus, in which case those are perfectly fine plays, no problem, carry on.
Atlanta PK: The left leg looks to be coming up without contact there and before any upper body contact indicating the attacker was going down no matter what. That said, this isn't anywhere near clear enough for VAR to get involved. VAR needs to stick to their duty and stop trying to re-referee the calls. They've overstepped more and more this year. I love that the center referees are shutting them down.
One would have thought that a video to review controversial decisions might actually contain at least one controversial decision .. but, no :/
"he doesn't expose his studs" … as video shows studs embed themselves in player's thigh :/
Very easy to see the Miami favoritism here…..
Wiebe, you're a joke. That's minimum a yellow on Busquets. Minimum. He should have been gone
Yeah, you missed the challenge on Bukari. The tackle was coming from behind and contact was made right below the knee…I don't know how many times I have seen this kinda challenge end careers. I feel like not giving a red on this challenge, escalated tension and the ref immediately lost control of the game from then on.
Screw Austin and your tin pot club, Biro needs to be banned from the league.
So let me get this straight. It was a 50/50 ball which means Farsi had as much right to it as Busquets. Busquets comes in hard, high and with studs out and cleats Farsi in the inner thigh/knee and it's Farsi's fault? Even if you win the ball it can still be a foul and a card. But Camacho comes in low, wins the ball, hits the player in the side of the foot with the side of his foot or leg and it's a second yellow because he "might have" got him with the cleats? Sorry but that's horse crap.
riding on that Messi meat , we know who is getting mls cup for christmas. !!
You forgot the Inter Miami goal that the female referee flagged as offside … it was an own goal … shame on her
At 3:27 although the VAR video show no view from the opposite side, the Referee was looking at the play from the opposite side and the Ref made the call on the field. Good call by the ref. Thanks for these videos.
So no foul on Busquets for winning the ball but endangering his opponent, but yes good call on Camacho because, even though he wins the ball, he endangers his opponent. Got it, great analysis here!
Also how can Busquets not go in studs up, yet his studs make direct contact with Farsi's thigh? If he weren't going into the challenge studs up the top of his foot would have made contact.
Another Wiebe masterclass in "I'll say whatever so I can keep my $50k salary"
I appreciate hearing the perspective about these different plays on their own, but I'd like to propose something for future editions. Would it be helpful to compare why one play gets called one way, but a second play gets called differently? Compare the Busquets – Farsi call, where no card is issued, and the Nealis – Mosquera call, where there's a red card. What is different between them? In neither play does Busquets / Nealis intentionally jump in on their opponent, they are both looking at the ball. But one gets a red card, and one gets nothing. What are the reasons, from a referee's perspective, why the calls play out differently?
The miami hate is hilarious, it's fascinating how bias can contort the eyes into seeing something that didn't happen. Busquets kicks the ball, the player kicks up into Busquets studs. Keep those thumbs in your mouths.
The only one where I disagree is the DOGSO in Atlanta vs RBNY game. I understand why it was called on the field, but if I were VAR, I'm sending the ref to the monitor. The attacker is looking for that, and only that. He jumped awkwardly and fell. Yes, there was contact, but that contact did not affect the angle of the attacker's leg or how he was going to land. That's not a foul. I'd book him for simulation. He denied himself of his own goalscoring opportunity.
I love how some of these red and yellow cards are absolutely ridiculous. There are a couple of times when those yellows and reds wouldn’t even be cards in England. MLS is soft and dull. No wonder Europeans think our soccer is a joke.
lol. This is a joke
Gotta be the worst take ive ever seen you give on that cleats into the thigh backbending gymnastics reasoning
We spent a whole minute on a clear Dogso in Atlanta, and started the show with clear calls in LA that no one cares about, but we didnt even touch Guido spending 10 minutes to be talked in to a penalty in NYCFC v FCC?
This show serves no other purpose than to push the league's narrative and bury the real controversial calls.
I think he shouldn't get it at all.
I'm disappointed to see the vitriol about the Sergio explainer here. To me, it had looked like a red-card-worthy foul live in real time, but better angles and slow-mo with VAR shows the opposite. Sergio got the ball, his kick wasn't especially high or dangerous, and as his foot was about to contact the other player he bent his knee and was pulling away from the impact.
I understand the urge to hate on Miami (they aren't my favorite team either), but this particular call is a weak one to go all in on.
These Instant Replay segments are almost impossible to watch. Change the colors of the shirts from yellow to pink and the commentary and analysis are reversed. It is clear that MLS has completely gone clown shoes. Just give Miami the MLS cup today. It is abundantly obvious who the accountants want to win
I'm Groot 😂😂😂😂
'He doesn't extend his leg into Farsi, and his studs are down'
Oh, you mean except for the thumbnail, where his leg is clearly extended into Farsi and his studs are clearly up? Cool.
To all the geniuses saying that last challenge made no contact. Look at 7:20 in slow motion. You CLEARLY see the entire sole of the foot make contact with the Miami players shin. You people are beyond belief. And regardless of the contact, you think a player flying in with a straight locked leg studs exposed shouldnt get any card just because the player had to jump 3 feet in the air to avoid it and therefore didn’t make contact. Good lord
You guys watching understand how much money Miami brings to the MLS right? lol of course they can get away with whatever they want
Columbus fans are the worst. You’d think that since their team was first, they’d learn the rules by now.
But no, everything is everyone else’s fault but theirs.
Their player gets to a ball second and runs into the foot that won it, foul on the other player.
Their front office tries to stiff their MLS Next Pro keepers on their collectively bargained rights? The league are the bad guys for not letting them do it.
MLS is so trash, lol. US always trying to do their own thing and change a sport done better by most of the rest of the world.
Listen, I know that the Quakes are the Wooden Spoon winners of this year but how are you going to ignore the foul on Daniel by Arriola, which should have been a red. Studs werent shown, but off the ground flying into the challenge. if youre going to be doing this series then do all the moments, even if the team is trash. and stop being so biased towards the teams that bring in the money and have the stars. ie LA & Miami
3:37 Its a shame he got awarded a penalty kick for doing something so lame (falling instead of playing the ball) lol
How will Miami not win the Cup? Don Garber once stated the MLS will never allow a "NY Cosmos" type team to exist, yet here we have just that with Miami and Messi. The Cup boils down to three teams, Miami, Columbus, or LAFC. The rest are playoff cannon fodder.
Vera spitting blew my mind. Not only is it just unnecessary and unacceptable, but he did it knowing full well that VAR would be able to see it. The stupidity of some of these players blows my mind.
Im seeing a lot of haters here
Ted Unkle once again let a match get out of control.
Almost waist high, studs into the thigh
Andrew: Hold on let me check the jersey. It's Miami? Nah all good here, let me just come up with some tapdancing bullshit to "excuse" a literal textbook red card foul.
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I know they are going to agree with the call on Sergio. They will say it wasn’t a red card offense. Even he knew it was a red. That’s why after the play he shook hands with the ref thanking him. It’s pathetic what Is I get a way with. They needed them to wrap of the shield so they have an excuse to hand them the World Cup spot. Guarantee if they didn’t win it, they would wait till after MLS cup to see if a Miami win. If they did, that would be the deciding factor. If they didn’t win either, they would go with the winner of leagues cup 2023 or just straight up say Miami are getting because of a Messi and money
Edit: just watched. Lol. I knew it. I had a lot of respect for you. Even was upset I didn’t meet you at MLS cup. Well that respect is now gone. It’s obvious your trying to keep your job by not speaking out about the favoritism the league and refs give Miami. No other possible reason for saying that’s not a red on Sergio. Pathetic Wieble
From your own damn video, "A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent" Not "unless he gets the ball first, not if it's a 50-50 ball, not if "it's in a normal natural way". If you're going to suck off Miami, just don't post the damn video
Wiebe I’m glad you remembered who pays your check at the end of the day. A ninja kick to the thigh should be an automatic red no matter what your name is. And I love the fact that you mentioned Camachos second yellow didn’t have contact so there’s no foul then? The guy jumped in the air and flopped just like Luis Suarez to get the free kick earlier. I admit crew did not play well and did not deserve to win that game but there was clear bias in the reffing.
Wouldve liked to see a discussion of the two possible offside goals in the charlotte chicago match, as one seemed pretty clearly offsides. Maybe i missed something
Im done watching these. The insight used to be somewhat educational and provided great conversation. But anymore the inconsistencies of the refs and the commentator is frustrating
Wiebe is a paid mouthpiece – he says what his paymasters want him to say. He has to walk the company line and that line is the money in Miami. People in Andrew's position are easily replaceable so no coloring outside the lines.
I have a question. At 2:45 you can see the official with the best point of view to see the contact. When the official goes to VAR can he use his memory and add that to what the video shows?
1:21 Biro tried to go full Brian Mullan on that one.
"He didn't expose his studs. However, he did make clear contact with the studs. I'm saying he both did and didn't make contact with the studs. They pay me to say this!"
Regarding the Busquets Farsi collision: Busquets CLEARLY exposes his studs. Into Farsi’s thigh. It doesn’t matter that they were both going for the ball. Busquets is a legend who should have received a red card for a dangerous play. Doesn’t matter if he got the ball.
