Anelka Gets 18 Game Ban For World Cup HorrorNicolas Anelka’s international career seems all but over after the French player was punished with an 18 match ban for the team revolt, against coach Domenech at the world cup, in which Anelka was a principal participant. Anelka, 31, was sent back from South Africa after he insulted the coach during France’s 2-0 loss to Mexico in their group match. Given the length of the punishment, it is unlikely that Anelka will ever play for France again.

When he was 15 years old, Alan Shearer went for a trial for Newcastle, which at the time, was looking for a goalkeeper.
