The USMNT and Wales played to an entertaining 1-1 draw in both teams’ respective first games of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah connected on a beautiful sequence in the 36th minute to grab a 1-0 lead over Wales. Weah became the first player to score against Wales in the World Cup since Pele did so in the 1958 Quarterfinals. Wales continued to show to resilience against USMNT and it was paid off in the 82nd minute with Gareth Bale’s clinical penalty finish in the 82nd minute. 10 of Wales’ 14 goals at their past three major tournaments has seen Bale or Aaron Ramsey either scoring or providing the assist.

That Weah goal was just the purest form of joy for me. Pulisic vs Iran was relief, Wright vs Netherlands was hope, but that goal…Pulisic slipping Weah through on goal, Weah’s finish, taking the lead in a World Cup game, it was a goal that many like myself waited 8+ very long years for.

I was watching the game with my parents, and when Josh Sargent slipped that ball to Pulisic, I just started shouting at the tv. “Watch this, they’re gonna score right here. Watch.”
This World Cup was a good showing for the boys. They proved to the world that they belong and can play with everyone. Reyna’s mom will be remembered for forcing her son to play via blackmail. So that part sucked
