Ireland’s 1924 Olympic Football Team | Our first ever Senior Internationals

In May 1924, an Ireland Football Team represented this country at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. It was the first time a team represented the newly formed independent Ireland on the world stage. This is the story of our first ever Senior Internationals.

The 1924 Ireland matches will be formally recognised as the first ever official Senior International Men’s Ireland matches at the Ireland v Hungary game at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, June 4. Relatives of the 1924 players, who’ve been tracked down by the 1924 Centenary committee, will be invited to celebrate their forefathers achievements and commemorate their legacy.
