Soccer is unquestionably the most popular team sport played in the world today. On almost every continent, you will find children playing soccer. Those who want to develop a competitive youth soccer team must understand that good planning and proper equipment is required for successful team practice.

Many times we find ourselves with the decision of what activities and sports should we sign up our kids? As parents sometimes we use our own background and experiences to reach a decision, other times we ask our friends, families, internet to find an answer. My opinion is that as parents we should facilitate the opportunities we give our kids.

For this reason, a well thought out philosophy keeps you on the right path.

A soccer coaching style consists of how you do things, how you communicate and what kind of character you reveal during all the aforementioned. A coaching style shows how a coach conducts a session and manages a game, talks with and leads players, disciplines and rewards players, is perceived by his environment.

In order for a team to play up to its full potential, any good coach must teach how to attack and show what a team can do to maximize its chances of scoring. Everyone loves to score goals. But your team won’t score too many goals if the soccer attacking tactics aren’t refined.

Good defending is the cornerstone of every team that wins the majority of its games. It certainly will take pressure off the attack having to score and it also tends to make it less difficult to win if a team isn’t necessarily scoring goals only to catch up with the opponent.

Your child has more opportunity to become a professional soccer player than they do becoming an astronaut, a brain surgeon, a United States Congressman, or a lottery winner. Purpose, focus and determination are more powerful than potential.
