Despite an aggregate haul of 17 Champions League titles, this Saturday’s final will be only the sixth time Real Madrid and Liverpool have met in a competitive fixture.
One of their most memorable matches came in the 1981 European Cup final, Liverpool getting the upper hand against Madrid (1-0) in Paris thanks to an Alan Kennedy goal.
