FC Barcelona’s new kit for the 2018/19 season was unveiled on Saturday at an event in Barcelona. The new Nike shirt keeps the traditional vertical blaugrana stripes, of which there will be 10, in representation of the City’s 10 districts.
The new design, inspired by the ties that bind Camp Nou to the 10 districts (Ciutat Vella, Eixample, Sants/Montjuic, Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Gràcia, Horta-Guirnardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu y Sant Martí), further builds upon the Nike campaign “The Ball Makes Us More.” The shirt incorporates Nike’s revolutionary Vapor Kit Technology, which offers exceptional breathability, lightness, and freedom of movement.
On sale May 21st
The new kit will be available for purchase on Nike.com/FCB and at official authorized retail establishments and distributors beginning on May 21st.
Barça’s first game with the new shirt, this Sunday, will, coincidentally, be captain Andrés Iniesta’s last game with the team. It will also be the fans’ first chance to see how the team will look on the field during the 2018/19 season.
The new shirt is visibly different from the current one, as each of the 10 vertical blaugrana stripes will be of the same width. Additionally, the collar will be a V-neck and will connect to the back with a reproduction of the “Senyera,” the flag of Catalonia, which will take the form of a perforated and breathable vertical strip.
The kit is completed with blue socks featuring four horizontal red hoops evenly spready out from the knee down to the ankle.
