I find it inconceivable that neither UEFA nor FIFA is punishing Atlético Madrid or Chelsea for the discriminatory insults and chants directed at Julián and Enzo; they should close the stadiums and ban fans from attending matches until they learn to behave properly. When Vini is insulted, a law is created, yet when it happens to an Argentine, nothing happens.

We’re not talking about a 20-year-old who can comfortably think “another opportunity will come along.” He’s entering what should be the prime years of his career. At this point Atlético’s position feels completely inflexible and driven by pure ego. Trying to hold on to a player who has publicly expressed his desire to leave in order to fulfill his dream and then specifically refusing to sell him to Barça, effectively blocking the transfer simply because they’re a direct rival and don’t want to strengthen them goes beyond protecting the club’s interests. I completely understand Atlético defending its sporting and financial interests. But there’s a difference between protecting the club and turning this into a power struggle with a player who has made his wishes clear. Julián is 26. His career is NOW. Not three seasons from now.
Probably Alvarez' visa issues is the main factor why he's reluctant to return to the UK.
