Unpopular opinion here, but between Cashley and RVP I can actually forgive Cashley. Still is our academy’s greatest graduate, was consistently good for Arsenal and won us 2 PL’s and what, 2 FA Cups? Left at a time when we couldn’t compete financially with everybody else. And as you can see whenever he speaks about Arsenal as a pundit he’s actually fair.
RVP on the other hand was injured for 7 seasons, missed 2/3 of the 2008 season when we were very well on course to win the league before Eduardo injury, suddenly he’s able to keep fit he thinks he’s too good for us and went to our biggest rival. Not only that he went on to parade himself as some sort of “winner” when he’s got the exact same amount of trophies at United as he does Arsenal – a singular fat ONE. And just listen to RVP as a pundit, can’t even hide his bias against Arsenal, actually pathetic considering what Arsenal and Arsene has given him.

Everybody hating on Ashley, but he is Arsenal in his heart. Just ask Thiery Henry. He was an academy lad and made it into the first team. Arsenal pretty openly disrespected him at the time and it has been widely reported at this point, so he left. Can't hate on him for that.

It sucks that the whole tapping-up incident really derailed Ashley’s future at Arsenal. It was overblown, and we now know how common tapping up is, with plenty of it going on behind closed doors back then too. He was supposed to be the next captain leading the club in the Emirates post Henry/Viera era.
I think some people in this comment section need to move on. He’s still an Invincible and gave us a lot of great memories in the early 2000s.
