Wheres my boy Mora!?
Big win, Solid win, a fine game. Timbers were dominant all around, in center midfield to wing play to attacking midfield & even in the counter attacks. Well played..
it should be a crime to play on turf haha
PTFC💛💚⚽️🇨🇴
Ayyy finnyy great performance from the lad!!
They bombarded us with adds of Gilberto Mora and at the end he didn't play. What a fkn ripoff. Lucky I did not go.
I was going to go to the game just to see Gilberto Mora play. Well they did not put him in.
Very nice football from Portland.
Can they lease start wearing brighter green kits not black…I can’t see them on the pitch
Look at all those ridiculous flags. Shameful.
Posting this just so that all MLS fans are informed and can borrow some ideas if you wish to respond to MX fans who cry and make excuses when they lose and flex past Concachampions wins.
MX has always had way more advantages playing in Mexico:
1.) Way more games are played at extremely high altitude in Mexico which results in a lung capacity issue for MLS players, this is something out of their control because they haven't been in Mexico long enough to produce enough red blood cells every time Conca starts. Mexico City 4 different teams, 8000+ feet, Toluca 9000 feet, Pachuca 8000 feet, Puebla 7000 feet, Queretaro 6000 feet etc etc. this is something MX players don't have to deal with playing in the US.
2.) Total fan base advantage (whereas US has MX fanbases because 40 million Mexicans live here) There were more Chivas fans vs LAFC and significantly more Cruz Azul fans vs Chicago fans, as two of many examples. There are 0 MLS fans in Mexico.
3.) "tRaVeL" MX fans use this excuse all the time, but conveniently forget this applies to MLS in Mexico as well, even though I personally think this is a BS excuse, it's definitely a factor but not nearly as bad as they make it seem. Sitting in a plane for an hour doesn't make you play worse. Players are built for worse conditions than simply sitting. Besides that, one only has to look at Cabo Verde vs the World Cup Champion and many other small teams that overperformed vs big teams in the World Cup.
4.) Scheduling, which is the big fish advantage for MX and has been for years.
The Conca kicks off in early February. The MLS regular season literally doesn't even start until late February. When MLS teams play their first Conca games, they have played exactly ZERO regular season matches and everyone knows being out of form affects football players. MLS has to play high-stakes knockout games during their preseason while Liga MX is already 6 to 8 games deep into the Clausura with full match fitness and chemistry. Players need to be fully fit before the tournament like MX players are, not get that fitness during the tournament.
There won't be a slightly more fair Concachampions, at least in terms of scheduling until MLS changes it's schedule for the first time in 2027. Until then, all the previous Concachampionships for MX have been significantly unfair for MLS with this many huge disadvantages. Most recently, Cruz Azul got to play the final with their 8000 feet advantage in Mexico City with their exclusively Cruz Azul only fan base and won in 2025 because of it. But their advantages were exposed only a few weeks later when Seattle Sounders cooked them 7-0 in Leagues Cup.
Another thing MX fans love to say, is nobody cares about this tournament, (except apparently the MX players who end up starting fights, get upset, look miserable after they get scored on or lose). In this current tournament both leagues are in form and MLS leads MX by 8 games.
MX fans often bring up history and past records…except past history when nobody in the US cared about football enough to develop it out at the same rate as the Mexican league isn't a flex. That's like saying an adult league defeated a kids league that was underdeveloped with all these big disadvantages for MLS on top of it.
MLS only started investing more heavily in the league when Messi joined the league and will be getting a new schedule in 2027 and plans to raise the salary cap to keep good quality players longer, so what matters is the present and future trajectory.
As for the most important tournament played in Concacaf the Club World Cup played once every 4 years, MLS had a better performance than MX in 2025:
Seattle Sounders finished 4th in Group B with exactly 0 points, a -5 goal differential, and 0 wins, losing to Botafogo (2-1), Atlético Madrid (3-1), and PSG (2-0). The problem for MX is that Pachuca also finished dead last in Group H with the exact same 0 points, a -5 goal differential, and 0 wins against much easier opposition in Real Madrid, Al Hilal, and Salzburg.
Monterrey and Miami both made it to the round of 16 but Monterrey's only victory in the entire tournament came against an Asian club, whereas Inter Miami actually achieved a historic 2-1 win over a European powerhouse in FC Porto who made it to the round of 16 of the champions league in their 23/24 season.
When you add the fact that MLS's LAFC directly eliminated América 2-1 before the group stage even started, MLS clearly won the direct matchup, had the higher peak, and any 0-point, goal differential stat argument they make against MLS applies just as heavily to MX against WORSE teams. 👍🏻
Some MX fan trolls will continue doing mental gymnastics and spitting out excuses after you make the case, but I've found that when informed, many reasonable MX fans do accept the reality of the situation, MLS is now currently better than MX and they don't need 3 massive advantages.
C'MON MEXICO PUT UP SOME FIGHT
My grandma took me it was worth the money
Timbers domination
Faltó mora
We might not have made it to the knockout rounds in this competition but we're definitely gonna make the MLS playoffs if we keep playing like this.
