Great interview with FC Central Penn President – Hans Bottesch.

Interview with FC Central Penn President – Hans Bottesch.

I spent an incredible week embedded with the FC Central Penn club, met the volunteers, parents and players. They are all a devoted community and do all things for the right reasons. Their love for the game and passion is incredible.

FC Central Penn is a community based, community driven soccer club built entirely around one priority: the growth and well being of the children. The club’s identity is rooted in providing players with what they need to learn, develop, and fall in love with the game — not in chasing trophies, titles, or recruiting the “best” players.

Rather than focusing on coaches, board members, or personal agendas, FC Central Penn centers every decision on creating a positive environment where players build confidence, long lasting friendships, and a lifelong passion for soccer. The club serves as the first step in the local soccer pathway, preparing young athletes to move confidently into middle school and high school programs.

FC Central Penn also sees soccer as a vehicle for shaping better people, not just better players — emphasizing character, community, and shared values over results.

This mission is carried forward by a dedicated group of volunteers whose commitment keeps the club thriving: Tim Monson, Pat Duane, Vice President Tyson Hale, Treasurer Taryn Monson, Registrar Chris Mackes, Insurance Coordinator Shawna Laughlin, and Social Media Manager Kaitlin Johnson. Their hard work ensures every child has a safe, organized, and supportive place to grow.
