It has just been announced that ESPN will no longer hold the broadcasting rights to the German Bundesliga here in the United States. Instead USA will be broadcasting 30 matches while the rest of the matches will be shown on Fandango. This platform is trying their hand at streaming live sports and the Bundesliga will be their guinea pig unfortunately for us fans. There is still very much that is unknown about this deal. ESPN was a great platform for growing the reach and popularity of the league in the United States. They provided awesome coverage & commentators as well as one single location for every single Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, and DFB Pokal match. ESPN FC though besides Yann, Derick Ray, Ali and Kate and sometimes Shaka the others barely spoke of the Bundisliga, Craig and Stevie like hate the league and only want to talk about the Prem. And honestly the Prem was boring as hell this year (sorry to your Chelsea friend I would still watch a Chelsea game lol) but ESPN FC is obsessed with the the Prem and I know that league has a lot of fans but duh u would think ESPN would promote the league they have smh. Anyway is this effective immediately? I mean the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup is only like a month away. They really pulled the rug under our feet.
This is awful awful news! I looked forward to my Saturday mornings with the Bundisliga watching all my Bayern games smh. Like they couldn’t give us some notice right, like this is the last year? This is crazy people over here will likely loose interest if they can’t watch or find the games. It unfortunate because like the NFL and all American sports are a headache u need to download and purchase like 5 apps. I watch ESPN plus all the time ESPN FC and Laliga too because my 15 year old daughter is a Real Madrid fan. No Bundisliga I knew this was to good to be true, I was so grateful to be able to watch our beloved Bayern Munich every week on ESPN plus, I even went to one of those watch party’s in NYC for the Der Klassiker vs Dortmund and met Jurgen Klinsmam. He signed my Bayern hat, this is crazy! This won’t be good for Bundisliga , and I m totally Bayern all the way but love watching the Bundisliga matches over even other leagues just seems to be better. Anyway thank for letting me know even though it’s horrible knees. Hopefully won’t be so bad as leg as we can watch the games. We can still watch Champions League on Paramount, but I like watching the league game to, sometimes the highlight of my week! Dam smh first every Bayern Munich player gets eliminated from the WC and now this 😢 …. Well Mia San Mia !
