At this point, adding new teams that don't exist yet is a bad idea. The league was started in 1996 and the only expansion teams that are successful in MLS since starting are ex  NASL and USL-Pro teams. In my opinion, adding a new unexciting team like that is like making three or more Chivas USA's. Beckham Miami team and New York City FC are bad ideas. MLS should have promoted in the New York Cosmos and the Miami Fusions since they already have a squad, have a successful ownership within their leagues and have a good fan base. That make sense. It take a new team and owner time to get their team into professional first division shape. Look at Chivas USA. They started from scratch and look at them now. The reason why new teams work well in other leagues because they have a division for that with a promotion and relegation system for those teams to work their way up..
Honestly I want to go a different direction then the EPL in the relegation aspect for a couple reasons. I think we should send a message that the US can create their own soccer experience without copying ideas and aspects from Europe and claiming them as our own. Another reason is if we get a relegation system it would extremely effect the way the league works now. The league is designed to have every team be as competitive as they possibly can which leads to a very competitive league. If we get like Europe, we will soon turn into them with only 4-5 teams at most competing for the MLS cup every year instead of having every team compete for the cup every year.

Then teams that have been created/grown in USL Pro & NASL.
I think that cities & states need a USL Pro/NASL team 1st. NYCFC & Miami are exceptions.Â
Now that you've stopped the bleeding at Chivas you should give a franchise to a place like Milwaukee.

Really wish NC would get a team. Carolina Railhawks have decent attendance. We have really good college soccer. And right now there's a ton of excitement for the international champions cup coming to Charlotte. We need a team!

Promotion won't work because us in America won't want to support a team that may not play in the same league. I would and other people would, but it won't help the MLS with promotion
Only way to fix this is to have regulation & promotion…allow small market clubs to climb thru the ranks.

digiprez77 former Fire GM Peter Wilt tried with all his might to get a team in Milwaukee and get a stadium built on the site of the old Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery…the Milwaukee City Council said no dice…I would love like heck to see a team in Brew Town but unless a stadium can get built in the immediate area up there…I guess you'll have to stick to Wave soccer…I will say there are a lot of Fire fans who come all the way  from Southern Wisconsin, NW Indiana, and lower SW Michigan to Toyota Park to see the Fire play…great support.
