  1. Look, I don't know who you are and It is easy to talk there bro, judging that Argentina only goes with the luck. Show us, how many times do you play that you successfully broke ultra-defensive low-block, how many times that you managed a team that broke such defensive strategy? Because i do know Messi has been facing this kind of defense strategy for 20 years.

Until the closing 2nd half Argentina placed 3 striker (Alvarez, Lautaro and Lopez), Messi to the right, Almada and Nico Gonzalez on the left, utilize CB as a midfielder. Do you know how many formation change Argentina did, for you to justify that they are not doing the minimum? The moment they re-take the lead, it is that easy for Argentina to break an-openly played team, didn't take long for the 3rd goal. Here you focus on the foul and on the luck. Easy for you to talk, Argentina has broke 3 ultra defensive team this WC, Spain couldn't win against Cabo Verde, no team could score more than 2 goals to Switzerland, even with 10 man Argentina struggled.

  2. Portuguese here: the truth is that portuguese referees are very bad and controlled by the club who rules FPF's Refereeing Council.
Notice that if João Pinheiro had not give the yellow card to the argentinian player, the VAR wouldn't have intervene and Embolo wouldn't have been expelled with the second yellow=red card.

  3. VAR intervened because there was a clear and obvious error. There was no foul and therefore no yellow card. The player who dove deserves a yellow card. There is too much diving and embellishment at this World Cup. FIFA should be reviewing each match and give out yellow cards post game for diving and embellishment. Perhaps then players will stop rolling around on the pitch. It is embarrassing.

  4. Why call this "controversial"? This rule has been used before in this same WC. One can dislike it but not call it controversial. That shows a bias in the speaker.

  5. There is nothing confusing. The call was correct. Embolo was dishonest by flopping and he meant to draw a false foul against his opponent. He deserved that yellow card. Put the blame on Embolo for his dishonesty. Not the referees. This is great for the game. The dishonesty of pretending to get fouled needs to be eliminated. I love this rule.

  6. controversy not only this match, since 1st match had to be RED CARD, but is Messi, not fouls…. etc etc EGYPT SWISS… the real level against ENGLAND will not enought for DISIMULATE the VAR, the real level for Argentina gonna leave them OUT of FWC26, the VAR and the referees gonna make CHAMPS

  7. Every damn football game has at least 10 of these dives in it, especially south american and spanish. And FIFA cherry picks this one and acts like it is an unusual one-off to be punished for desecrating "the beautiful game"? What a gas-lighting farce. It's fixed. Trust your own eyes for once – this player only did what we see many times in every single game.

  8. I'm amazed these people actually have a job here. Spewing sh*t like this and CBS actually pays them? The only reaction I have is to click "not interested" and "do not recommend" on Youtube!

  9. It's obvious that Argentina just aren't that good. They haven't played a genuinely good team until last night, and even Switzerland are just okay. I think it's obvious that if England play decently Argentina will show how bad they actually are and lose quite easily.

  10. Mistaken identity means IDENTITY, doesn’t it?
It means that the referee saw a foul and booked a player for it, but mistakenly booked another player.
It does not imply overturning one foul and finding another foul. Otherwise they should review all cards, and possibly all fouls.
    It is a Messi mess.

  11. If FIFArgentina were to move on, FIFA felt Vargentina would have a better chance against England. There you all have it.

Remember Norway Destroyed Italy, and who is FIFA's president? Go figure.

  12. We talked about this when VAR was first introduced. I think most players agreed that at the end of the day they are pleased w it because it will get the correct calls. There were one to many frank lampards goals and maradonas hands and such. Remember why we first brought it in. I was not a believer in it when first discussed either but better than some egregiously wrong calls. I think the application of the tech needs to be better defined and explained thou. That offside decision by the tip of the tor stuff is too much. Should be like the torso or center of mass at torso (chest) like track and field.

  13. It dismays me to see how Americans, who know nothing about football, who have never even read the Laws of the Game, come now, in 2026, to question rules that have been respected worldwide for almost 100 years. The Americans are being reckless and arrogant by joining the world of football and trying to change it. It's not the entire football world that has to adapt to the ideas of these upstart Americans, but rather the Americans who have to respectfully embrace the eternal rules of football if they want to be part of the global football culture.
