Pulisic, is not the guy. Balogun & Cavan Sullivan along with Freeman and Malik Tillman will be the cornerstones of what we are building. I truly believe it. Gritty guys like Luna will be there in 2030 too
Kasey Keller played for millwall. Great keeper
Very good comment from very good, likable commentator
Very good attitude.
The most glaring problem the US has is the debacle with Flo Balogun all i heard all the time from US sports broadcasters was describing him as the US superstar player talking as if he was an incredible player, when he lived and played in london he was an OK mid tier player and probably would have ended up playing for a league one or two team he would have struggled to even find a place in a championship or Premiership side
The only realistic way for the US to become top tier, or at least close to that, is to stop charging kids too much to to play, and having promotion and relegation in MLS….If you give EVERYONE an equal chance to make it, they will start coming through. And to get the best out of players, there HAS to be a fear of relegation, and the dream of promotion. MLS right now is just far too comfortable.
This is the most intelligent and educated video I have seen from a US reactor about the World Cup. Great job! Hopefully, this tournament will inspire a generation of young kids to start playing. You need to have strong and competitive domestic leagues, if you want to develop a national team that can challenge the best teams in the world. That’s also going to require the adoption of the promotion/relegation model, to work properly. I can see there being some resistance to that! 😂 The money men aren’t going to like it!
the world plays football the USA plays soccer.
The USA were only in this world Cup because they can automatically join because they are the hosts.
You didn't stand a chance. Shit team, no magic.
Good content, Respectful and honest, good stuff.
You're doing amazing. Enjoyed this commentary. You need to watch AFCON next year – nothing compares.
They did pretty well. There is a gap between teams in South America and Europe. It is what is.
Shouldn't of got the red card overturned karma smashed by Belgium
The U.S. did better than I thought They looked good in the group stage. It was a good tournament. I also enjoyed the positivity and the cultural exchange even with the political shadow hanging over the whole thing.
Honestly, I think USMNT will hit that ceiling for a while, no matter how much money is ploughed into the game. The teams that win this competition, football IS their national sport. Kids are being signed to academies at 6/7 years old. Small towns can take on the big cities in competition and win. The 'franchise' model USA employs is focused on 'entertainment', the promotion/relegation model used in most other nations breeds passion and development at grass roots level, in every city, town and village. If the USA wants to win the World Cup, a major shift in mentality towards the sport is needed. As long as the franchise model limits the volume of teams, it will limit everything else about the sport.
8:30 grassroots is the big thing. Nothing else matters if the kids aren't playing football after school. You don't need the strongest or fastest players but kids who value the game and yearn for it
damn bro the way you pronounced the leagues, esp the "premier league" tells me you're not like msot american "soccer fans" lol respect
You shot yourselves in the foot, with the corruption, Belgium didn't need a team talk; they were pissed off.
USA got one of the easiest groups if not the easiest and then they faced Bosnia who aren’t exactly the best team but still played really well then they had a real challenge in the round of 16 and bottled it. Even after cheating aswell, not saying USA won’t get better and maybe the sport has grown but they will never live up to European teams or even African teams. I do hope the arrogance fades and USA start to actually enjoy football and more teams come about. You need grassroots you need kids playing football as young as possible. You need more leagues than just MLS England have multiple tier leagues I think like 8-9. If you look at European football they have multiple leagues from low level all the way to the best that’s what the USA need
Great points
You’re calling it soccer. You’ve got no chance cause to everyone else it’s football ⚽️. MLS is a joke and doesn’t even play with the same rules and all this hydration breaks. Nope that’s not football that’s commercialism and that doesn’t work. The players you’ve got, wouldn’t get into the best championship teams let alone the premier league. No just cause you’re America that holds no weight here. You don’t have the players or the mentality to be good at real sports that don’t have rest breaks every minute. Stick to NFL as that’s what youre good at cause nobody else plays it. Simple facts cause Cuba can buss your arse in baseball ⚾️
Respect ya passion….invest into the sport
The first step is beating teams that youre on paper better than. The next step is being able to compete and eventually beat the teams that are better than them.
This world cup shows that we're all better off without mericans involved in "FOOTBALL ". It's a world game. It has rules. We all know that nowhere does merica play fair. They don't have relegation. They would turn it into 4 quarters for advertising. STAY AOUT OF OUR GAME. YOU DON'T BELONG. 😡👎🏾👎🏾😡
Having players who "play in europe" is not the same as competing against teams whose players are the cream of the crop in europe.
You lot make a lot of Pulisic, but he's just been an average joe in european football for half a decade now. Hyping up an average joe says everything about your nation and its team.
In 1930 the U.S.A. came 3rd in the World Cup!
As a woman who had a Mia Hamm poster in 2002, when the men's team got to the quarters and outright didn't even register the men had a team in 2010, the fact that people can actually be disappointed in the men's team is huge. I remember when people lost it over the US escaping group.
4:21 “at their best they can play with anyone”.
No, this is just not true.
In March Belgium beat USA 5:2.
Why did America treat Belgium as an underdog? They spanked USA 5:2 & 4:1.
You’re in a good mindset. Greetz from Germany!❤
The red devils are not on a tail end but nearing the last stages of a generational transition. We still have 4 vetzrans of 2010-2018, and the rest are slowly growing better playing in big championships like the premier league, the spanish Ligua, the italian Calcio, the german Bundesliga and our own belgian 1st division (our equivalent of the 1st league) mostly from the big teams that play on the international stage (Brugge, Anderlecht, Genk, Standard Liege and Charleroi FC…) and they now finally have a good coach who has a great club pedigree and has rounded himself with a highly competent staff and who know how to instill fighting spirit in his team ! That's how they won against USA : they already were fired up after their remontada against Senegal, then that red card fiasco with Ballogun lit a bonfire under their arses and they came out on the pitch firing up all cylinders ! And.the good it has made for the quarter final again spain, who didn't scare us like hell anymore after how they played against Portugal… well if the devils come out again like… devils😅 outof their box, belgium has a real chance to perhaps win the gane if it stays a fair game (which it should as the spanish are absolutely not known for cheating). Guess we'll witness another superb game and i only wish that the best team wins !
Not the fact that USA lost to Belgium but the way they lost!
You looked good in the early games but those errors were just shocking.
I don't think the furore that Trump created helped at all.
My concern would be that the public will to develop the game will drop. If it had been just a loss in the Ro16, fine. But for it to be so controversial, and such an embarrassing collapse, will probably make it a lot more sour for the people the sport is trying to woo. They got hyped up, didn't really know where they stood (see the bronze-medal-meme response to wins over Paraguay and Australia), and harshly found out. And Rest of World, instead of saying 'good run, your team is a decent medium power now', is telling those fans they're trash and they can get fucked. A shame, because the attitude before any controversy would be that the US isn't a top side but a decent bet for an upset. But they won't see any magnanimity from this, mostly thanks to Trump (and partially thanks to some of the brain-dead online commentary; no the USA isn't the only hot country, yes European teams will be fine, and of course there are now 6 European sides in the quarters).
To be honest with you none of USA team would be good enough to play for the top 8 national teams in the world !!!
Still don't get why American's call it soccer. It's a sport that is played 95% with your feet and a ball. So the rest of the world calls it football. Meanwhile, you have the NFL that is played 95% with your hands and doesn't involve a ball. You use an oblong spheroid. But you decide to call that "football". WTF is wrong with you people?
I think American football should be called Gridiron, or, my fav, Stop and Go. Yup one or other. Please inform the authorities. Thank you 😁
