Funny how as soon as he does something wrong everyone starts criticizing him. What don't we talk about the unsupportive team he has? Or how many assists he got in the games? His own teammates rarely passed the ball over to him. Bruno Fernandez, being a midfielder, preferred to strike himself; why? Cristiano Ronaldo has to go down as one of the best center forwards in the game regardless of winning a World Cup trophy. He has won league titles all through his career in multiple leagues Premier,La Liga, and Seria A, he's a multiple Balle D'or winner with two different clubs. I think Ronaldo (like Neymar and Messi) needed a swansong. Now should be the time to announce retirement as its 2 years until the next tournament. I admit hes lost his pace but like Messi we know he can still finish.

Ronaldo can make the next world cup and win the next one, he is the only human that can in his same position of career.. and thats because Ronaldo's strongest attribute is his ability to adapt to his age.. now the next level of adaption is the truest test and final level of adapting, which is – does Ronaldo accept and understand the role of being a substitute like Teddy Sheringham or Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was used at Manchester United.
If he can not accept not being selected or used in starting 11's or come on every game and throws tantrums then he can not finish the last stage of adaptation. If he can accept that, then he can still win the world cup and help Portugal, whilst also being his haters worst nightmare by sticking around.

Pass accuracy counts. Messi scored the first goal v Cape Verde with a great pass and thus broke the logjam. Brazil lost with all those great players. If the team doesn't work like a team and loses the plot, it's recipe for disaster. Exactly, it's not about Ronaldo. It's about playing to the strengths of each team player. The few crosses at the goal were at best mediocre.
