  1. 21:30 Get your facts right. The Netherlands never lost a first group game. But they definitely DID lose their first and only games in the 1934 and 1938 world cups.
By the way, the last time the Dutch lost a WC in normal time was 2006 against Portugal. 2010 (the final) if you count extra time.

  2. Hydration breaks… let's just call them what they are: commercial breaks. And they suck. But everything Infantino touches sucks, as does American adver….euhm sports coverage. If its 104 degrees out there, ok, maybe. Or maybe don't organise this tournament in a freaking oven.

  3. The Dutch didn't sit back when they went 1-0 up. They did when they went 2-1 up, partly because of Japan and partly because of incomprehensible subs by Koeman. He took off all speed up front and brought a clearly unfit Memphis and Brobbey who needs speed around him.

  4. Koeman paid the price for his conservatism and stubbornness. Shortly after the Netherlands' second goal, all attacking players were substituted. You can't put enough pressure on your opponents up attacking third. then the defensive line being breached is only a matter of time.

  5. Agree, the water-break at second half was a bummer especially when Japan was starting to build momentum. Referee seemed fishy on that note but had a hunch things would change drastically upon Ito Junya’s entry and it did. The last 15 minutes, the Samurais were playing like deadly Ronins, sharp and dangerous, just hoped we saw that from the beginning. Overall, a great draw!
