10 Bundesliga Stars Who Flopped In The Premier League!

For today’s top ten on Football Daily, it’s exactly as it says on the tin – ten Bundesliga stars that failed to adapt to the Premier League game. Inspired by Timo Werner’s indifferent start at Chelsea. With two free transfers amongst £220M worth of signings, there’s a lot to look forward to. We start with Shinji Kagawa, who lasted just two years at Manchester United, whilst his Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the only player on this list to feature for two different Premier League teams – not impressing at Either.

Three Liverpool players make it on, with Naby Keita failing to stay fit, Andriy Voronin failing to find the net, and Loris Karius failing to stop anyone finding the net. Max Meyer was on £170K a week at Crystal Palace, but was released earlier this season after barely featuring in 18 months, whilst West Ham took a loss on record signing Sebastien Haller after an underwhelming year and a half for the Ivorian. Joelinton makes the list, unsurprisingly, after just four goals in 63 league matches for Newcastle despite the almost £40M price tag. And also, did you know Baba Rahman is still a Chelsea player? Six years after the Blues paid £23M for the 26 year old, he is still on the books despite not featuring for the club since 2016. Not the smartest move by Chelsea brass. Enjoy!

  1. Werner is the firat player since Hazard to reach double figures in both goals and assists in his first season at Chelsea thats not a flop he is an important player he draws defenders to create space like for Pulisic goal against Madrid

  2. tbf you could put most of the last signings of Sir Alex in a list together because he wasn't able to continue working with them. If he wasn't forced to retire, he would have overseen the 4th generation rebuild of his Manchester United side.

  3. "It may be too much to call Naby Keita a flop"

How? Why? What else do you call a player who was supposed to be better than De Bruyne and ended up barely doing anything?

  4. Werner has 10 goals 12 assists on a not so typical season to move to a new country new league. I love how the definition of flop has changed over the year. Let's compare his first season number with every superstar that came to EPL and actually prove a point.

  5. Imagine if shearer played In Germany he would be by far the greatest goalscorer of all time. It's a awful league. Ruined by bayern just taking any challengers best two players off them..if they don't go and are German they won't get picked for Germany because bayern run the German team aswell. It's such a scam and awful league

  6. Loris Karius wasn't a flop, and I'm a Liverpool supporter who felt the consequences of those mistakes he made so I feel my word is valid here.

Yes he made mistakes, yes some of them were big, and came at the worst possible moments.

But when we bought him, we were fighting to get into the top 4, not fighting for a title. He was a perfectly good keeper for that role, and did a remarkable job in the 17/18 season to get us into the top 4 and into the CL finale. Now yes he made some stupid mistakes in that finale, but that doesn't take away the incredible job he did for us until that.
For £5m, he was a steal at the time, a good servant, and a risk worth taking.
Even if we sell him now, we wouldn't loose much if anything of that fee.
