People will easily criticize why Arsenal adopted this slow, patient and set piece dominant playstyle but never ask the cause
Arsenal was always a possession based team even before PL teams adapted the concept, and people used to called them, weak team, men vs boys, then Arteta came and he added their game with more defensive style and aggressive pressing style, while still kept the possession based playstyle which made them hard to beat them, but that high intensity with their slim squad cost them big time by injuries and fatigue in last stages of every season plus most of the teams playing low block against them, and thatโs where the set pieces came in hand, to score and force their opponents to come out then exploit them
This slow and patient football started last season but their season was damaged 8 games into the season by injuries and controversial red cards and still managed to reach UCL semis and this season they strengthen their squad and finally crossed the line and reached UCl final
I think next season we will see more balanced playstyle by recruiting more attack minded players
As a city supporter I so wanted them to win but Arsenal were brilliant and formidable opponents, and they deserved the title after a long wait, well done gunners! ๐
