7 center backs means going 5 in the back, so 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 with no creativity and no attacking support. USMNT are barely getting out of the group stage and definitely not getting past the first knockout round.

Diego brings grit, creativity & has done everything Poccetino asked of him. Roldon & Miles Robinson offer none of the ways Luna could have helped this team. Luna was screwed….
Diego Luna should just play for Mexico. He's an asset. US always goes for "pedigree" and "potential", not performance. Why US isn't ever a threat. Ukraine's team, who didn't qualify having to play football in awful circumstances, could beat US easily. They're very good. I actually enjoyed watching US football for first time in a long time, with Luna playing.
All the "potential" and "pedigree" players will fail again, as always. Since US can't bother having young hungry players who're actually performing and truly want to win, represent US, I can go back to watching the truly excellent teams, and not feel guilty. Luna had 2nd most goals and assists for USMNT. Pulisic couldn't score for club or country, always injured. Gio's not proved anything, hasn't even really played with USMNT. Rapport matters. It's like these commentators don't actually watch other country's teams who are on a different level. US wouldn't have made WC except for free pass cuz it's in US. Rather see Luna play for Mexico in future and make a real difference, than wait on US who'll never give him a chance.

Here is the biggest problem. We are relying on Pulisic to be our star go-to scorer. He isn't good enough when the players around him aren't good.
We are going to get embarrassed as usual. Until US SOCCER is dismantled and rebuilt based on player development and not profit things will never change. Simple really.
I have no problem with Reyna over Luna, Luna has hustle and heart, but in a World Cup everyone plays hard and there are fewer gaps to exploit, so hustle gets negated a bit

I do not think we know the young guys are ready for that next level, some people are great at the lower tier but cannot handle the pressure and talent at the next level, too risky. Yes Adams is the Midfield anchor, but I know Roldan can lock it down, he is not going to be the guy to win it, but he is the guy to make sure you do not lose it too easily, giving you the chance to win it. The defense is where Poch needs to make sure he gets it right, the offense gives us more options, and different looks is an advantage, but defense, you need to be locked down. If Poch gave Roldan the job to mark Doku I do not think Belgium is having the easy day they had. I fully support the choice of Adams and Roldan in the midfield, and I think Roldan needs to be helping coordinate the defensive marking, the defensive coaches need to work on this for the USMNT, it was not a good showing for the marking around the box, but if they can fix that, wow what a difference, the USMNT looks competitive, but lets be real, those games do not count, it will be something else when it counts. Go USA!
I disagree with SWP. Turkey are obviously favourites to win the group but it's very close between the US, Paraguay and Australia. It will be a tight group and whatever happens i wouldn't expect US to make it past the first knockout round unless they get a very kind draw
