Més Que Un Club 💙❤️
That juventus team in 1995 was drugged up. We know that now.
"It ain't much if it ain't Dutch. "
Henry was in his element here. Fantastic content! 👏🏽
Johan Cruijff THE GOD OF FOOTBALL ❤
Syed Abdul Rahim should also be considered in architects of total football as he was the one whose team, 1950-63 indian golden generation, was the team that was playing with a tactical system closest to modern total football which was revolutionary at that time.
Arrigo Sachi should be mentionied and that Milan team 89-90.
As a dane to here that about Laudrup from henry makes me so proud ❤ dont talk much about him 😢
Who is viven kompany
So where is the tactocs talk that this shouldve been about?
And where is Vic Buckingham?
Great history lesson! Greetings from Amsterdam. 🤙 Ajax Forever. Forever Ajax!
"Rhinus Michaels"?
"Holland"?
Put some effort into the preparations!
Henry forgot Rijkaard. He taught Pep the ropes
Suprised not to see Sam Allerdyce on this list tbh…
Rinus Michels copied it from Ernst Happel..look it up
Respect to Rinus Michels and Cruyff for laying the foundations for Pep and Co who have perfected it
As a Dutch person I sorta understand that he starts with Rinus Michels.
But the origins of Total Football date more or less back to the Austrians in the 1930s, then Hungary in 1950s and it was then revolutionised in the 1960s by Ernst Happel and Rinus Michels in the Netherlands.
Ernst Happel is one of the more under appreciated managers in football.
He won the European Cup with two different clubs, and reached the final with a third one.
He led the Netherlands in 1978 and it was arguably a better performance than in 1974.
He was the one to introduce the iconic 4-3-3 formation in the Netherlands, that Michels copied from him and Feyenoord.
Feyenoord also was the only team to really compete with Ajax during the late 60s to early 70s.
Between 1965-1974 the domestic trophies were mostly shared between Feyenoord (6) and Ajax (10).
Of which Feyenoord won 4 leagues, and Ajax won 6.
Other trophies were the cups.
Vic Buckingham should be at the start of this list. He was coach at Ajax twice. He passed the idea of total football to Rinus Michels and also gave Cruyff his debut.
As far as I know Ernst Happel is also considered very influential for the development of Dutch football in the late 60s and 70s although being Austrian). Later he had a good chance to break Bayern's dominance in Germany when he coached Hamburg (Netzer worked as sporting director).
You can hear the love for football and his Idols in everything Titi is saying. Nice
Micah's looks jealously by Kate /Thierry 11:46 _12:15 what's you're problem bro ?
Would've like to see Kloppo mentioned
I would like to see Henry and Pep together managing at the Dutch national team. It will never happen but it would be fascinating to see what they can achieve
Funnily enough I was just watching a bit of Ted Lasso yesterday, and after they visit Amsterdam, Coach Beard gives a brief history of the origins and influence of Michel's Total Football.
Shut up, Thierry Henry!😂
Alonso played in Bayern Munchen when Guardiola was the coach
The Royal Kingdom Of The Netherlands …
Total football is dutch from more than50 years ago. The rest is stolen
Thank you Thierry Henry for the kind words on Michels, Cruijff, and van Basten..it is an honour to see you are such a fan of total football…you were one of the absolute best players of the world and the Premier League
Tele Santana, Zagalo…
Thierry was in his elements here! His passion for the game is other-wordly. Perhaps he should've included Frank Rijkaard also, he was also cut from the same cloth, did wonders @ Barcelona as a coach. A certain Mr.Messi debuted under him. Super segment indeed.
That classic Juve kit!… ⭐⭐🔥🔥
Arteta needs to be there
Liverpool board should have noticed that there is no Slot there.
10:12 angelo peruzzi 😅😅.
In efootball he sucks😂😂 but great achievement for him.
Everyone conveniently forgets Gustav Sebes and the Golden Team when talking about total football…
Hansi flick system is the closest to the original
Maybe even more than pep’s philosophy
This is why i took a tour of the Arena.
And it still comes to this if you ask any of these people who had the biggest football brain, but also the right ethics. They will all say Cruyff. He was such a smart guy, but also a legendary personality. What charisma, a larger then life personality, he became one of the best footballers in the world, but remember out of the top10 best to ever lived he would have been amazing in everything else as well. A man to lead people or to follow into combat.
There is too much hype about Kompany, he hasn't achieved anything significant as a manager yet.
He shouldn't be in that picture (yet).
His team plays circus soccer with an open defence and he still has to learn quite a few things.
I like his approach though.
As a guy from the Netherlands i'm glad to see Henry talking about this stuff. Only one small correction to this story: total football as played by the Netherlands in wc '74 was basically invented by the players, not the coach. The leaders were Cruijff en Van Hanegem. In '74, they already had behind them years of a very succesful rivalry. Van Hanegem won the european cup with Feijenoord in '70, before Ajax winning it in 71,72,73.
Both Cruijff and Van Hanegem were very creative thinkers on and off the pitch, always discussing football and trying new things. So it was not one coach or one player who invented total football, it was the culmination of a legendary generation of Dutch players, led by Cruijff and Van Hanegem. They created a culture where players were just thinking and talking about the game nonstop.
Would be only just to mention Ernst Happel with Rotterdam and the Dutch national team, who was th real early adapter before Michel with 4-3-3 creating this playing midfield and modernize aspects of the game, that Michel incorporated.
Brazil did this in 1970 WC final. Carlos Alberto assisted by Pele🤌🏻
I love how Titi knows alot about the history of total football and how he admires the Dna of Dutch football.
Rinus Michels was like a father to Johan Cruijf, who had lost his own father. Later they called Michels the General and his most famous words are: Football is War. Henry has seen it very well: Michels is the root, but without the spirit of Cruiff he would not get that far, it was a symbiose and Amsterdam was hot that time.
Onbe big smile of dutch Joy
Hansi flick???
From what I’ve researched it goes even further back to Hugo Meisl and Jimmy Hogan. They created the Austrian “Wunderteam” of the early 30s. It was not called Total Football back then. Ernst Happel can be mentioned as well. AC Milan was not solely Catenaccio. You don’t win 4:0 that way. It was the most balanced style in my eyes, also very effective for quite a while. Bayern are risking too much. In my opinion if they were a little more balanced they could have won the Champions League last and this year.
The Netherlands not having a World Cup is sad, but this being their legacy is the greatest trophy a country can have. Limited edition 1/1
love this , makes me a proud Dutchie to see hoe much credit Thierry gives the Dutch School ..
