This U10 soccer training session (Week 4, Session 10) focuses on the attacking phase of play with a clear theme: Finishing the Attack. Players progress from technical warm-ups into unopposed finishing, and then into game-realistic 2v1 and 3v2 scenarios to improve decision-making, movement, and clinical finishing.
This session is part of our U10 7v7 Full Season Curriculum, designed to help coaches, parents, and players build strong foundations in youth soccer.
👉 Session Breakdown:
Technical Warm-Up – Juggling & themed juggling challenges (first touch, coordination, ball control).
Unopposed Finishing – Shooting from dribbles, passes, and first-time finishes.
2v1 to Goal – Decision-making on when to dribble vs pass, and support movement from teammate.
3v2 to Goal – Overloads, width & depth, third-man runs, and combination play to finish attacks.
Small-Sided Game (SSG) – 5v5 with one big goal & two mini goals to apply principles under pressure.
⚽ Key Coaching Points:
Find the player in a scoring position (awareness, scanning).
Get multiple players in front of goal to increase scoring chances.
Use 1v1 dribbling and counter-movements to create separation.
Clinical finishing: laces, inside foot, first-time, or composed placement.
Transition quickly from build-up into finishing opportunities.
💡 Guided Player Questions:
When should you dribble to finish vs pass to a teammate?
How can your movement off the ball create space in the box?
What finishing technique works best under pressure?
📌 Why this matters for U10 players:
Youth players need repetition of finishing in realistic game contexts. This session develops:
Technical ability to finish in different ways (dribble, cross, pass, shot).
Tactical awareness in overloads (2v1, 3v2).
Confidence to attack and finish under pressure.
