HAMILTON — A community is outraged after a well-known soccer coach is arrested for secretly videotaping his female players.Butler County Sheriff’s Deputies say Craig Rhodis,42, has held private soccer lessons at his home for years, but two sessions he held on July 15th violated a 17 and a 21 year old.The girls’ training session on that day included a body mass index test. and Rhodis took full advantage.Through some manipulation of his, he was able to get them to go into the restroom several different items and change different attire,Sgt. Rob Whitlock of the Butler County Sheriffs Department explained Tuesday.Investigators say it was the 17 year old who noticed Rhodis’ suspicious behavior.She noticed a phone sitting on the bathroom counter and she believed she was being recorded, Sgt. Whitlock said.An investigation confirmed the teens claims and put rhodis behind bars. The arrest sent shockwaves through the community.Mostly i just feel sorry for those kids. Not only did he hurt them and their self-respect and the kids could be traumatized by that, Butler County mother of 3 Sherry Conlin remarked.How long has he been doing it and why hasn’t someone come forth before now? Grandmother Jo Wright asked sternly.Investigators say based on evidence, they believe these incidents were isolated.However they also ask if you or your children have been coached by Rhodis in the past and have any similar suspicions you are urged to call authorities. Rhodis has a court hearing tomorrow. If convicted on the two 1st degree misdemeanors he could get up to 6 months in jail.EARLIER…LIBERTY TWP — A Butler County soccer coach was arrested for secretly taking videos of his female students.Craig Rhodis, 42, of Liberty Township was arrested yesterday for 2 counts of voyeurism.Rhodis is a professional soccer player and the coaching director for the Fairfield Optimist Soccer Club.Butler County Sheriffs Department says the investigation started after a 17 year old told deputies she thought she’d been videotaped while changing clothes at his home.Investigators not only determined the teen was correct, but there was a second victim, 21 years old.Investigators say the 1st victim’s instincts paid off.To get her to change clothes several times in the bathroom and then she noticed a phone sitting on the bathroom counter and she believed she was being recorded, Sgt Rob Whitlock of the Butler County Sheriffs Dept said Tuesday. Investigators believe these two incidents were isolated.
