Understanding Soccer Rebounds- Top Tier Soccer IQ and Essential For Youth Soccer Players

Ready Or Not, The Ball Is Coming…

Jose was ready and capitalized with a goal off @joinjabari ’s free kick.

Over here, you must be ready to take out the trash and attack the rebound.

That goal took our U12 @galacticosporteam from a tied game to a 2–1 win against Boynton Beach Knights 2014 during the @springssoccerclub Holiday Cup.

Side note: does anyone else’s family call soccer rebounds “trash”? 😅⚽️

“Taking Out the Trash”- Key Concepts & Actions:

1️⃣ Anticipate the shot
The moment your team shoots, start crashing the box. Rebounds don’t wait.

2️⃣ Smart positioning
Don’t crowd the keeper. Find space where the ball is most likely to fall.

3️⃣ Attack the ball
Be aggressive. Box out defenders and go win it.

4️⃣ “Trash” = loose balls
Deflections, blocks, missed shots, clean them up with purpose.

5️⃣ Recycle possession
Winning the rebound keeps the attack alive and wears the defense down.

Every teammate has a role.
Every rebound is an opportunity.
Who’s ready to take out the trash?

The difference between almost & a goal is effort‼️
