It wouldn't have been outrageous to expect him to score in almost every game he played for the rest of that season but he actually failed to score in 33 of his next 42 games!
That's not to say he didn't play well in 33 of his next 42 games. I'm the first person to point out that a player can score and have a bad game and a player can play really well but not find the back of the net.
I certainly don't remember there being any suggestion that Rooney hadn't had a good first season at United.
