  1. Still find it mad he was playing at Fulham he was the best Goalkeeper in the league & arguably in the world at times. One of Fergie's best signings & god we could use someone like him now 😢

  2. I always remember the hip thing at this time was young goalkeepers. I think Buffon started the trend but you had everyone going after guys like Sebastien Frey, Chris Kirkland, Richard Wright etc and United tried it with Tim Howard. Ultimately they went back to what worked and just got a guy with ability and a tone of experience in van der Sar.

  3. Many clubs in Europe have some big legacy, and can say they have had legendary strikers, midfielders, or defenders. But a few can say they have had a legendary goal keeper. Manchester United have had two.

  4. Maar als Ajax directeur een grote bal door zijn handen laten glippen omdat hij Mislidat op het doel zetten, Ajax heeft daar nu nog last van, jaren terug geworpen.

  5. IMO United best goalie. Made top class save after another, clam & never blamed defenders whenever conceded goals (unlike Schmeichel who used to always tell his teammates it’s their fault & never his) holds the record minutes for not conceding a goal something Peter couldn’t achieve. Longevity to sign at almost age 35 & departed pushing 41 (Peter was 35 when he past his best & left United) Edwin took United to three CL finals & ended the hero/MOTM in 08 final at the penalty shootouts while Schmeichel fluked 99 & was at fault for conceding the opener & finally Edwin was the best with his feet in the world back then with him playing from the back as a useful option to have in contrast to Peter Schmeichel was rubbish at it & never developed that skill.

  6. What a great watch. The amount of keepers United went through between Schmeichel retiring and Van der Sar signing tells you all you need to know. No question about needing a new keeper over the next 6 seasons.
And John O'Shea? A utility player during his time at United and would probably get in the team ahead of any of the back 4 that are there at the moment.
It's been a hard time of late.
Still can't wait for the new season though.

  7. My GOAT of keepers, I was too young for Peter unfortunately

I had the yellow GK that VDS wore, I got it signed by Welbeck and Smalling in a BK outside Manchester 😆!

Super nice gents, they waited 15-20 minutes after beating Sunderland 1-0, while I scrambled for a pen with my dad

  8. He is authoritative yet calming at the same time…they don't make keepers like Schmichel, Van Der Sar or Buffon anymore,do they? Just a pity he joined us in 2006,would have loved him to have joined us in 1999 after the Big Dane left…that would have spared us so many heartbreaks n we would have won more silverwares. Still, better late than never.

  9. Took few years to get a keeper that was on same level as Schmeichel and in Van de sar we got one who was just as good some mite say better?? He brought a level of calmness qnd authority just class in every department. And some say it was pity we didn't sign before he went to Fulham but them few years of premier league experience he got before coming to utd probably served him well 👌
