The Late Nite Soccer league is run by the FAI’s co-funded development officer in conjunction with Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Young People’s Facilities and Services Fund (YPSFF). The League was set up in 2008 throughout Dublin and has seen an increase in centres from nine to 18. Open to young people aged 13-21, this diversionary programme takes place in disadvantaged areas during prime anti-social hours such as Friday nights. Over 1,000 young people participated in the first half of this year and figures for the winter of 2010 will see an increase on this figure.
